Usually great, but...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/7/10
We stay here every time we go to Roswell and it's usually the perfect place to stay (not luxurious, but it's always clean and nice and the staff is always friendly even though the food is usually pretty terrible) but our trip to Roswell this year was nearly ruined because of it. We came during a time when they were doing construction on most of the upper half of the hotel. Our room was on the bottom floor and we're never there during the day anyway, so we were fine with it. Our first night there though, apparently some people were having a wedding and everyone was staying there, and our neighbors (rooms were connected by doors) were incredibly rude. This woman had a child who would not go to sleep, so to solve the problem she turned up Disney Channel so loudly when I got up to use the restroom I could tell exactly which episode of which show they were watching. The next morning we talked to the front desk and they apologized and gave us a new room. However, little bits of the ceiling were actually coming off and covered the floor and some of the beds. We called the front desk and again they nicely agreed to move us to a room near to the elevators upstairs. As soon as we get there we realize it's boiling in the room, and when we try to turn on the A/C, nothing. The front desk is probably annoyed with us by now but they send up someone, and when they can't figure out what's wrong AGAIN move us to another room. Except they send us to another part of the second floor, and it's like a ghost town. All the doors are open because the rooms are under construction, plastic and wood litter the floor, and the men working on the rooms are standing around in the halls smoking cigarettes. But nothing was wrong with the room when we went inside, so we settled in. Let me tell you right now the food is usually pretty awful in the buffet. The only decent thing is the cereal and maybe the toast; the bacon is dry, the eggs are rubbery, the potatoes are cold. Though if you are planning on leaving the hotel early to go down to the lake or somewhere else the front desk does give each person a paper bag with a muffin (there are chocolate-chip, chocolate, blueberry, banana-nut, apple, etc.), a fruit, a bottle of water and some kind of breakfast bar, which is nice. I was very annoyed we had to change rooms so many times and we were not forewarned about construction, the staff was very friendly and helpful each time we had a problem and usually when we stay here it's better. The prices are great, too.

Nightmare on Main St.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/1/10
Sorry I won't ever stay here again. Granted they were having a bad day when we checked in with a roof leak of some kind. We had a room with no hot water in the shower and a surly staff that refused to try to fix it or move us to a functional room. The manager was especially unprofessional.

Bleach in the Pool
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/28/07
Just last week our family spent Thanksgiving in Roswell, NM. My Grandmother lives there and is taking care of my Great Grandpa. There was about 15 of us who decided to stay at the Best Western Sally Port. We all arrived in town on Wednesday, and stayed in our rooms at the Sally Port. The first night there we all went swimming when we got back from my Grandmothers. The water in the pool seemed to be really strong, and it was difficult to see under the water, even when we used our goggles. Nevertheless, we all enjoyed ourselfs and continued to play in the pool. It wasn't until we went up to our rooms that all of our eyes where burning. It was terrible. The next day some of our eyes hurt more than others but it was Thanksgiving and so we simply enjoyed dinner. Yet, that evening we once again headed for the swimming pool after we left our Grandmothers house and it was then that we noticed that a few of our swim suits had changed color. My swim suit which was red and black was now pink and black. My little sisters suit had been a dark brown and now was a light tan. It was then that we thought something besides the pool just being too strong, it was something much worse. All we could figure it that it was bleach in the water. And to boot, the hot tub wasn't even working.

GREAT STAY / GREAT PRICE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/4/06
FIRST RATE SERVICE FROM A FRIENDLY STAFF. EXTREMELY CLEAN ROOMS. FANTASTIC INDOOR POOL, SPA, AND SAUNA. FREE FULL MEAL BREAKFAST BUFFET SERVED IN THE RESTAURANT. CASUAL DINING IN THE RESTAURANT WITH GOOD EATS AT REASONABLE PRICES. ROOKIES SPORTS BAR IS GREAT FOR ADULT ENTERTAINMENT IN A RELAXED ATMOSPHERE. CHECK OUT THE GOLF PRO SHOP TO BUY A NEW DRIVER OR JUST TO TAKE A FEW PRACTICE SWINGS BEFORE THE DRIVING RANGE(NEXT DOOR). DID NOT USE THE HAIR SALON SERVICES AVAILABLE IN THE MERCHANTS AREA. FACILITY IS WELL MAINTAINED AND UPDATED. THIS IS A GREAT PLACE TO STAY IN ROSWELL.

Good Job Sally Port
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/21/06
First time ever to Roswell, half expected my room to be coated in tin foil to keep the rays of Saturn from burning my brains out. Found the Staff helpful and friendly. Room was in great shape. ( King Suite ) Well maintained. Good pool and a top flight Ice Machine. Very good morning breakfast. I would very much stay here again.

First time in Best Western and also Last time.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/24/05
The room was clean and quiet, but I ended up waiting 20 minutes for breakfast and then I was told it would be awhile longer because they were preparing for a busload of people. Needless to say, I ended up eating breakfast somewhere else and the on top of that, I never got any kind of refund/discount from the hotel. I will never stay in a Best Western ever again.
