La Mer Motor Inn, Cape May

WE loved the location, the staff, the suites, the cleanliness and the all around great feeling there!! WE were in Cape May for the Jazz FEstival and had a wonderful time at LA Mer. I've recommended La Mer to all of my friends who come to the Jazz Festival!!

La Mer is an amazing hotel. The front ocean view is so serene and it is jsut breathtaking. My best friends' family and mine stay at this hotel every summer, and we always have a blast. We'll deffinitely be coming back this summer(=

My husband and I went to Cape May for Thanksgiving and our anniversary. We stayed at LaMer and were very pleased. The rooms were large, clean and very nicely appointed. Even though the weather was terrible the first two days the view of the ocean was still great and the room comfortable! The rates were reasonable because it was off season but we will definately go back during the summer even with higher rates. We have already recommended LaMer to several other people and will continue to do so!

I booked a room for my family. I was told we had the "penthouse" the best room in the hotel. They confirmed that they had a pool and it was kid friendly When we arrived to check in we were told that our room is not at the hotel but rather several blocks down the street. There was no pool at the building where we stayed. Tried many times to call the hotel front desk, no one ever answered, just got voice mail. A housekeeper gave me another number to call where someone answered but was very rude. Apparently they do not like to talk to guests. Poor communication by hotel staff. Would never stay at hotel again.

Very disappointed!!! Explained what we were looking for over the phone. Did not meet our expectations at all. Balcony very small and NOT private. Could not even put a lounge chair out if one were available. People on either side of our balcony in full view. Just a typical hotel room, yet very expensive at over $300 per night!!! Even with that exorbitant cost, the hotel has no provisions for beach access and we were expected to pay for that ourselves. We expected SOME LUXURY OR PERKS for the amount of money charged. (i.e. had to ask if shower cap was available.) No breakfast, no newspaper, no beach access, no beach chairs, nothing! In fact, the hotel room had NO INFORMATION as to what services (if any) were available from the hotel. We had to ask downstairs in the lobby if we had any questions. Expense not worth it! We had been willing to pay more thinking we would be in a beautifully decorated room with large private balcony and some perks. A complete waste of our hard earned money. Would not recommend. Very average. Not worth the big bucks it charges!

The absolute best hotel in Cape May. Located away from the noise and bustle of the main drag with the beach directly across the street. The hotel is clean, new, and worth the price. I have stayed in other hotels but never again. Only the LaMer for me. You will love it.

very clean and classy. service was great. close to beach. didn't get a chance to visit the bar. heard that hotel owner likes to hang out there and mingle with guests. would only stay here when staying in cape may.

We just returned from the Le Mar hotel in Cape May. What a beautiful place to stay in the spring. We had an ocean front view room that we could open the doors and listen to the waves. The room had a nice patio area to enjoy a happy hour before dinner. Will return again.

I should preface this review by stating I never stayed at the La Mer. My review only touches upon their reservation/cancellation policy. I made an online reservation 2 months in advance of my stay and unfortunately had to cancel. Their policy is to charge a $30 fee for cancelling. I can understand this fee if it was 2 weeks before my safe, even 30 days, but two months? Who does that anymore? Shame on you La Mer. I'll never consider staying at your hotel. I may even mention the experience to my friends and colleagues.

Great location, well appointed, spacious rooms with a wonderful view of the ocean. Quiet and clean. We are looking forward to our next visit.
