Dollar for dollar great experience
By ,
Clean, well presented room. fresh smell, bathroom very clean, no mold around tub, towels all well placed, floors very clean, professionally cleaned. Staff were very polite and courteous. Only problem was there was no office sign when we first pulled up to the motel, so it took a bit to find it at the far end. there was one drink charged to our room which we did not order, and they immediately removed it at check out. The view of the mountains was spectacular, and the wedding we attended across the street was wonderful. The shuttles were readily available, and the overall experience was very good. I would recommend this location to anyone.

Never Again!
By ,
We were planning a family trip to the coast of New Hampshire and on the way home we decided to travel back through the mountains and revisit a former favorite-the Mount Washington Resort! While booking it, we stumbled across the Bretton Woods Lodge which was much more affordable. Since it was owned by Omni resorts and part of the Mt. Washington properties, we figured it would be as charming as it's name implies. Well, we couldn't have been more wrong! We pulled up to a seedy, outdated, motel with zero curb appeal. Unless you count the refuse, cigarette butts, and dirt lining the stairwells as "appeal". The room was no improvement. The interior matched the exterior completely. It was a drab, old, throwback to the 70's with some kitschy lamps used as an attempt to mask its outdated decor. The blankets honestly looked like they were easily 30 years old. They were so bad I refused to use them, opting to get the sleeping bags out of the car to cover us. The mattress was HORRIBLE! It was cheap, thin, hard, and the springs stuck out into my back all night. It reminded me of a hideaway bed mattress. On top of that, the mattress protector and bottom sheet were ill-fitted and did not stay in place. Which resulted in my husband and I sleeping on a bare mattress most of the night, which is totally disgusting and unacceptable! The bathroom was clean but the grout was not, again in keeping with the seedy motel theme. The patio had a great view but otherwise was very depressing with its two cheap, worn, mismatched Walmart plastic chairs. The ONLY redeeming thing about our stay was the shuttle service to the resort. I would not recommend this motel- "lodge" to anyone and I think the Omni should be ashamed to have their name associated with it.

MOST EXPENSIVE MOTEL 6 EVER!
By ,
I stayed at The Lodge because a good friend of mine was getting married at Mount Washington Resort right across the street. We were supposed to get a good deal at the Lodge becuase we were part of the wedding group. However, we were charged much more than the rates posted online a week before the wedding.Although the rooms were adequate, they were nowhere near what we expected considering the high cost of a room. As indicated in the title of this review, it was no better than a Motel 6. The continental breakfast was a joke. The shuttle service to the Resort was sporadic, at best. When we arrived at the Lodge, no one was at the front desk. We had to wait over 20 minutes for an employee to show up at the front desk. Finally, we checked in. We gave the clerk a credit card but were assured that the card would not be run since my friend and I were splitting the cost of the room. The most disturbing thing about The Lodge was the checkout. The clerk, Daniel, could not be bothered to get off the phone with his mother to check us out. Instead he simply ran my credit card without allowing us to review the bill beforehand. When I reviewed the bill (after he already ran my credit card) I discovered that the Lodge charged me an additional $45 per night above the agreed to rate. The clerk informed us that he was unaware of who changed our rate or why and that this was not an isolated occurence at that hotel. Apparently, there is no manager on duty on Sundays so he credited my account for the full amount and indicated that a manager would contact us the following day. We did not hear from a manager, however three days later we received a bill for the correct amount. However, concerned with their incompatance, I checked my account online. My account revealed numerous charges and refunds in apparently random amounts. However, after doing the math, the Lodge still charged my account for the additional $45 per night that we never agreed to. That, coupled with the fact that I never agreed to any authorization on my credit card in the first place is unacceptable! STAY AT YOUR OWN RISK! IF YOU DO DECIDE TO STAY THERE, CHECK YOUR BILL CAREFULLY!
