This place is a rip-off!!!
By msnickel, 07/05/09
We stayed in a dumpy little one bedroom over the 4th of July weekend. The room ceiling was stained with water and mold, there were no towels available for two days - the front desk didn't have the key to the laundry room, and the place was terribly noisy. For $200 plus a night they threw in a BBQ that was a joke. Just hot dogs only, with catsup. Cheapo, dirty, I'd stay away from this place.

AWFUL!!!!!! don't go!!!
By good4me, 06/01/09
I reserved a room with a kitchen and queen bed, the web sit looked great and the price was right. However when my husband and two small children arrived and checked it, the room they put us is was a smoking room with ash-trys that had not been cleaned, the floor was stained in more place's than not, the smell was awful, the shower and sink were full of hair and still wet. So I called the front desk, asked to be moved to a non-smoking room, they allowed the change and to my amazment that room was worse than the first, food on the table and counters, the kitchen sink was COVERED in food and trash, the bathroom stunk, the bed was barely made and the bed spread had torn holes all over it, had obveusly been slept in and not changed,we decided we were going to find another place to stay and the frumpy guy who came up to the room to move us to a 3rd room told us that we would be paying befor we left with an additude walked out. If you dont mind the gross mess and bad service this is the place for you.

Definitely heading back to this place! And SOON!
By Amber B, 07/08/08
My friend and I just visited this place over the fourth of July weekend. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were given a great room with a balcony and a view overlooking Lake Tahoe. The room was clean and comfortable with a dining area, kitchen and a seating area. Originally, we only booked for one day, but we were so happy with our find, that we booked another night with Richard (we love you man!) late that night for the next day. We booked on priceline.com and was able to get the room for $89.99. But, when we asked Richard if he would match the price (the rooms normally go for $150-$250) he said he would do us one better and beat it. So we got our second night for $69.99. Who could beat that? It is in a perfect location, with beautiful views. We will definitely be heading back there for our next trip. (Quick tip: 260 is the best room - if you can't get that one - go for 262)

A wonderful place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/12/08
From the moment I called until I checked out I received the best customer service ever. The rooms are clean, they have a private balcony with a lake view, the lake is right across the street from the property and it can't get any better than this. I will be a customer for life. Thank you so much Royal Valhalla for making my stay so relaxing.

Great Value
By Lisa Petker, 02/26/08
We loved the location and the value. We could fit 10-12 people in the suite we had. However the hotel is very outdated and could use some attention. Employees were extremely friendly and fun to be around. We loved the hotel lobby with fireplace. The views were amazing!

The place stinks, literally
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/16/08
We stayed one night in Jan 2008. As soon as we entered the lobby, there was an overwhelming smell of mildew. Our room in the same building as the lobby also stunk very badly of mildew. Management was unprofessional - the manager was always seen sitting on the couch in the lobby and chatting about personal matters on his cell phone. We had a room with a kitchen and dining area - everything was just old and run down. We were supposed to stay 2 nights but left a day early as the mildew smell was starting to make us sick. The place needs major renovation and the price to stay there is high given the conditions. I would not stay there again.

Good hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/22/07
We stay here usually every time we are in Tahoe as it is reasonable and by the lake, they have given us some very good deals on lake front apartment style rooms and generally treat their customers well.It isn't the nicest or newest hotel (especially the tower part) by the office is better but for a fairly decent price with a lake view it can't be beat.

Below Avergae - Average
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/15/07
The Hotel is just across the beach which makes its location very pretty. But its a old hotel. Cleanliness is average. The breakfast was average also. The heaters in our room were not working but the manager assigned us a another room immediately. If you are looking to save bucks on staying in Tahoe and dont mind staying in a old hotel, then its perfect for you.

very disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/26/07
Oh where do I begin? The only reason we all stayed was because we have gone there for the past 28years! The decks are sloping and you don't dare stand near the railings. We paid $289.00 on the 4th of July and on our balcony you could see the wood under the outdoor carpet! In one room the paint was so bad in the bathroom and it looked like peach colored cottage cheese. It was such an unsanitary place to stay and I would say it is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in! The location is the only thing it has going for it. The staff was friendly but sadly the Royal Valhalla has lost it's appeal and the "family feeling" it had when Tom and his wife Jo Ann were managing.

Ripped Off For The Holiday
By HawtDoll901, 06/07/07
The rooms were very outdated and not very clean, no AC just a fan to plug in and the tv did not getall the channels we could almost make out what wason HBO through the snow. Upon making reservations i knew the prices would be higher than average but now that i check rates i see we paid more than triple the normal nights stay. NOT WORTH IT.. Great hotel for 70 dollars or less a night otherwise dont waste your money! The location was fantastic right on the lake with great views from our room. In fact it was the only place on the lake that we saw.
