Royal Valhalla Motor Lodge, South Lake Tahoe

Driving 8hrs from LA hmmm not pleasing place to be!!!!! So old carpet, elevators smells that I have to stop breathing from 1st floor to the second floor. Our room234 stinks and carpet so dirty, yikes! Can't sleep at all.. I have to open the windows to atleast have some fresh air. Early morning I have to complain coz can't breathe at all.. we're transfered to rm236 which was better but still... can't stand the carpet. Breakfast anyone? donuts/muffins/oatmeal/bread for toating/coffee/orange juice...no eggs...yes no eggs. Parking? so crowded that we need to park in disabled parking and we were told if someone will complain they are gona call us and we need to transfer our parking, wouldnt it be terrible if they did call us in the middle of the night?!!! UHHH! Anywayz, this place need a MAJOR renovation... Nice view but NOT RECOMMENDED if same building is standing. I will never ever go back in this hotel unless if they will tear down this building and replace a new one.

They should change the name to Royal DIVE on the lake. I can't even give one star to this hotel. The pictures online are deceitful! The only picture authentic likeness is the fireplace in the lobby building. I Wish I would've gone to YELP to see reviews before booking. I did read reviews online however, they were good. PAID $280.00 a night tax included This place is OLD but we can deal with old, it's the fact that it was dirty! We [8 adults] reserved a 3 bedroom [queen beds] w/2 rollaways, kitchen, 2 baths. I phoned a couple days ahead to verify they definitely had it set up for 8 adults; table, chairs, dishes, utensils etc. I was assured - YEAH right! Table w/3 chairs, one of the [what they call bedroom] bedrooms was in the living room/kitchen! I will give kudos to Ian at the front desk because when we immediately went with our list of what was needed for 8 people, he had everything there within 10 minutes. Once we had everything, we still did not feel comfortable even eating off the dishes and some of the adults were worried there would be bedbugs in the beds!! Yes, it was that gross!! We checked out as soon as we could and stayed down the street. AND it was $100. a night cheaper and sooo much nicer!! SO DON'T find out the hard way people, read YELP reviews and also know your hotels in TAHOE there are many dives I wouldn't let my pets sleep in!!

Heater did not work. sheets were filthy. If you do go take your own light bulbs, toilet paper and portable heater. They gave us a different room and it was no cleaner than the first one. take a tent and sleeping bag.

I checked this place out on line and it looked good. Took my family to a two bedroom suit and the only thing that was nice was the deck and the vies. Rooms were realy realy bad and the sofa bed you could not even sit on let alone sleep on it. What a mess this place is. They could not even pay me to stay here again. We had 6 people and they only gave us 4 towles and said there were no more. Then the next day we saw a room sale going on and called the number and they said 199 a night for what we had and then we told them we saw the sign and they went down to 119.00 But they would not give us credit as we were already there. We left.

Not recommended, this place was ghetto! The pictures on the internet were false advertisement. There are no rooms faceing the lake. The hallways smelled like strong ammonia. The bedrooms were also stinky. Our balcony was boarded off. The couch was ripped and filthy. This place needs to be inspected by the health and safty department. The fire alarm in our room was disconnected with no battery. I did not want to stay and they would not give me a refund!!!!

The people were great but the room was not. No towels, bathroom broke in the middle of the night, shower knob fell off, dusty. The people were nice and very friendly. Got towels right away when asked, would have been put in a better room if I told them my complaints the first night.

We stayed in a dumpy little one bedroom over the 4th of July weekend. The room ceiling was stained with water and mold, there were no towels available for two days - the front desk didn't have the key to the laundry room, and the place was terribly noisy. For $200 plus a night they threw in a BBQ that was a joke. Just hot dogs only, with catsup. Cheapo, dirty, I'd stay away from this place.

I reserved a room with a kitchen and queen bed, the web sit looked great and the price was right. However when my husband and two small children arrived and checked it, the room they put us is was a smoking room with ash-trys that had not been cleaned, the floor was stained in more place's than not, the smell was awful, the shower and sink were full of hair and still wet. So I called the front desk, asked to be moved to a non-smoking room, they allowed the change and to my amazment that room was worse than the first, food on the table and counters, the kitchen sink was COVERED in food and trash, the bathroom stunk, the bed was barely made and the bed spread had torn holes all over it, had obveusly been slept in and not changed,we decided we were going to find another place to stay and the frumpy guy who came up to the room to move us to a 3rd room told us that we would be paying befor we left with an additude walked out. If you dont mind the gross mess and bad service this is the place for you.

My friend and I just visited this place over the fourth of July weekend. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were given a great room with a balcony and a view overlooking Lake Tahoe. The room was clean and comfortable with a dining area, kitchen and a seating area. Originally, we only booked for one day, but we were so happy with our find, that we booked another night with Richard (we love you man!) late that night for the next day. We booked on priceline.com and was able to get the room for $89.99. But, when we asked Richard if he would match the price (the rooms normally go for $150-$250) he said he would do us one better and beat it. So we got our second night for $69.99. Who could beat that? It is in a perfect location, with beautiful views. We will definitely be heading back there for our next trip. (Quick tip: 260 is the best room - if you can't get that one - go for 262)

From the moment I called until I checked out I received the best customer service ever. The rooms are clean, they have a private balcony with a lake view, the lake is right across the street from the property and it can't get any better than this. I will be a customer for life. Thank you so much Royal Valhalla for making my stay so relaxing.
