Love \"The Lion\"
We have been staying at the MGM Grand during Thanksgiving every year for the past 5 years. Though initially worried about the size of the casino and the amount of walking that might be required, we found that the casino is laid out very well and we like the roominess not found in many other casinos.
Check in at the airport is quick and efficient, and I highly recommend it (it's at the end of the baggage claim area). The rooms are very well kept, though if you have one at the end, it is quite a walk to the elevators. You might want to ask for a room ending in a number no higher than 20. That would be about 10 doors down from the elevator.
We have stayed in Deluxe Rooms (that's the regular ones), Bungalow Suites, and Celebrity Spa Suites. If you are going to be there more than 3 day, I recommend the Bungalow Suites. The are much roomier than the Deluxe Rooms and lower priced than the Celebrity Spa Suites which are really no different except for the spa tub.
We have been really pleased with staff members in all areas of the hotel, from the check-in staff to the casino pay window tellers. Everyone is courteous and efficient. The maids who have serviced our rooms are very responsive to any requests.
All in all, the MGM Grand offiers a terrific experience at reasonable prices. It has rooms for almost any income level and has a wide range of eating places from pizza joints to high end gourmet restaurants. Also, it is near the airport, a plus in my view as we are the first to be dropped off and do not have to head to the airport too early on check-out day. The monorail has a station in the hotel, which makes it easy to get to other parts of the strip quickly. You can also catch "The Deuce" bus if there is no rush. The hotel is also within walking distance of many other casinoes and hotels, including NY, NY, Monte Carlo, Tropicana, The City Center area, and even Bellagio. You can also walk to the Excalibur and take the shuttle train to the Luxor and Mandalay Bay.
There are many cheaper places to stay in Vegas but I highly recommend the MGM Grand as it is reasonbly priced and offers a complete Vegas experience on it's own as well as quick access to most strip locations.
We love :The Lion" as we call it, and hope you will too. Have a roaring good time.
