Comfortable room - lousy amenities
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/25/11
Room was very clean, quiet and comfortable; I'd give the room an A+. Staff very friendly. Give them an A+. However, amenities aren't what they used to be. No longer have a breakfast buffet and there is no reasonable cafe or restaurant to get breakfast except the "Hash Hash A-go-go" which should be "Hash Hash A-GONE-GONE". Heaps of lousy food overflowing the plate with piles of sauces and junk - not a nice all american breakfast or lunch to be had. Gift shop by the elevator was only open a couple of hours per day so couldn't get simple items like a cup of coffee, bottle of water or snack unless you happen to hit the right hour. Very dissappointed in the slot machines - no winners there. It was evident when you saw the crowds move over to the Silver Legacy, Elderado & Circus Circus to do their gambling. You could actually see and hear winning going on at their casinos. I'd rate the amenities a D-. This was our 3rd visit to Harrah's but I think I'll go back to Silver Legacy or Elderado next year.

Bad the second time
By Don Stevenson, 3/18/11
I first stayed in August 2009 and had a nice King bed and clean room. Gaming was fun and I decided to come back after the summer crowds had left. I made a reservation for a King bed for my stay in Sept 2010. I was told there were no king beds even though I had "reserved" one. The front desk clerk did not care about my reservation and said there were no King beds available for the 4 nights I stayed. The bathroom was full of dust and spider webs and the maid brushed off the light fixtures and left the dust on the counter top of the sink. There were days I had no towels or soap/shampoo and had to go search for the maid to get any. Not a fun thing to do first thing in the morning. The gaming was OK but they seemed to have changed gaming staff from last year and they we not too friendly. Yes the place is 30 + years old and does need a makeover. I will look for other options as I like the Reno/Lake Tahoe area as a change from Las Vegas.

Buyer be warned!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/16/10
I've never stayed at the hotel, but I have eaten at the buffet (Carvings) twice over the last 3 years. I recently moved to Reno from the Dallas area and took my mother to Saturday champagne brunch buffet their (upon her request) and was downright appalled at the service we recieved. First, apparently there is a two glass maximum on the champagne, although if you call the staff they will tell you there is no maximum. And secondly, the manager we spoke to was absolutely horrible and was not helpful or willing to work with us at in fact was very confrontatoinal. She told us it was posted and that if we don't want to come back we don't have to. Hands down the worst experience I have ever had at any restaurant (buffet or otherwise)... You would think they would want to keep locals happy (or at least be understanding when there is miscommunication). Save your money and go to another Saturday or sunday brunch where you at least know what you are getting and they won't make you feel like you're trying to rip them off if you question them.

No Heat in Room
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/30/10
We stayed here the day after thanksgiving. It took us 30 minutes to check, not a good start to our stay. When we got to the room it was real cold. I located the thermostat and thought I had turned up the heat. After about 30 minutes of trying to increase the heat and waiting for the room to warm up, I tried calling the front desk. The phone didn't work, it had a very apparent short in the hand set connection. I traveled back down to the front desk to report the problem. Someone finally came and said I had the adjustments wrong. I let him have his comment and we left. We returned late but the room was still very cold. My options were go back downstairs, tell the front desk, wait for someone to check the thermostat again or possible move. Neither option was attractive. We looked for extra blankets, there were none. We ended up sleeping in our clothes. The next morning I asked if they could do anything for us, the answer was no, no discount, no discount on a meal, nothing. I will never stay in another Harrah's property.

Pleased
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/10/10
Front desk staff was excellent. Room was very clean, and appointments were fine, and everything worked as it should. Very convenient location. Fast elevator for above 16 floors. Harrah's Steakhouse was GREAT. Best service, food, and dining experience in 20 years. Check-out was a breeze. Casino floors were smokey. The overall experience was positive.

We won't go back here
By Dominion, 8/16/10
We stayed for two days and two nights. The room was clean and comfortable, nothing special. The staff was very efficient and friendly. The casino was nice but not as big as we expected. The slots payed out fairly often but you just need to be patient. All the drinks were on the house and I even got brand name scotch not the cheap stuff. The valet parking was great and the staff was fantastic. I prefer craps but there never seemed to be enough tables. The first night we were there there was a busted sewar line somewhere on the first floor of the East Tower and the smell was sickening. The next morning it wasn't as bad but it still smelled pretty bad. There is only one cafe open late at night and I wasn't impressed with either the food nor the staff. The room was not expensive so it was a good deal but our next stay will be at the El Dorado, it's much nicer.

Won't go back
By George, 8/4/10
Totally outdated and worn-out hotel! The "Carvings Buffet" Was Terrible... spent $21,95 per person, worth a $1.99. I would have asked for the $1.99 refund, but lost it. Second night, found the El Dorado Hotel buffet... Crazy Superior to Harrah's! El Dorado's front desk showed me a room... will be staying there on my next trip to Reno.

By too bad, 7/31/09
I visit Harrahs Reno 2-3 times every year for the past 20 years or so but the casino never changes its slow and old style . Everything else is great about this place though .

Nice room, friendly staff, good food
By Nadien, 1/25/09
We had a nice room on the 20th floor in the East tower. We had dinner at the Italian restuarant which was really good. We could not get in for dinner at the steak house since it was full. The only disappointment was the Spa. It is in need of a major remodel, the sauna did not work.
