Worst Laughlin has to offer.....
By Alex W, 02/02/10
On a whim we decided to take another trip to Laughlin. We usually stay at Harrah’s at the end of the strip but this time decided to try something different, BIG MISTAKE. When we pulled in the parking structure we were greeted by stray cats roaming around the hotel compound. That’s good if you’re looking for cheap pest control but otherwise is an indicator that the facility is neglected. When we checked in the front desk staff was cold and rude. They didn’t have the professional appearance that other hotel s in Laughlin have. They were dressed in casual clothes (t-shirts and jeans). Fine, I was willing to compromise since the price was so competitive. We were assigned a room in the Santa Fe tower which should have been named the Mogadishu tower. The rooms weren’t properly cleaned, lacked basic necessities like an appropriate amount of towels, and was outdated. I kept telling myself that I got this room for a steal and should just deal with it. We cleaned up and headed out towards the Casino. Most of the games were old and the size of the Casino was small. It took forever to get a drink and we were the only ones under the age of 90. We decided we were going to head to more pleasant surroundings and took a cab to Harrah’s. We had a gambled, drank, and relaxed in the comfort of Harrah’s until it was time to get some shut eye. When we returned to our room we were greeting by an incessant chirping noise which turned out to be the fire alarm. We tried to call the front desk but instead were automatically routed to Security. In fact, dialing zero connects you to restaurant……WTF? We had to call security to get the problem fixed! Once that was taken care of we tried to call housekeeping to get some extra pillows and once again the Security Guard/Housekeeper/Maintenance Worker brought it to us. On a positive note the bed was pretty comfortable. When we woke up we decided on a last ditch attempt to be impressed by the folks at the Edgewater. We opted for the ever popular Buffet. Once again, not just a huge let down, a disaster. I’ll sum up the Buffet experience by advising the readers of this review to stay away from the ribs unless you like BBQ pork jerky……seriously. I left the Edgewater feeling dirtier than when I arrived. From now on Harrah’s has my business when I’m in town.

So there are alot of poor reviews for the Edgewater. Basically, some people want alot for a little bit of money. We go to Laughlin 4-5 times a year and we always stay at the Edgewater. It is smack dab in the middle of the strip, so your close to everything (directly accross the street from the Outlet Mall). Best gaming on the river and their rewards club is by far the best. The Hickory Pit (not the best name) is the best, the atmosphere is quiet, cozy and very clean. The food is superb, they have the best French Onion Soup on the planet. Outstanding steak house and the prime rib is amazing. The rooms are for the most part, blah, but there is always hot water, clean towels and the housekeeping staff is always friendly and willing to give you whatever you need. The buffet is ok, it really depends on what time you get there as to house fresh your food is going to be anyway. The only Casino on the river that has serveral Roulette wheels, everywhere else has a couple. So many slots, your bound to find what your looking for. I love staying at the edgewater, its perfect for a weekend getaway and I have never ever been disappointed. My hubby and I always have a blast and make the most of every trip to Laughlin.

Can't wait to go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/12/10
Cocktail waitresse's, cage employee's, valet & baggage personel are the best. Gift shop employee's are rude, but the host office & MOD's do what they can to accomodate your need's. The slot machines pay pretty good. It's well worth the 10 hour drive I make to stay & play here,

By Harry A, 09/20/09
We have stayed there several times over the years but with others as a group. Never again !!! The place is worn, dirty and smells like mold. The bartender served me my first beverage but ignored my wife...NO tip for that slob, and left. Never again for even more reasons that just what I've typed here.

Not all that bad
By Mr. Demo, 09/17/09
It was very generic. A typical vegas style room not much flare at all. But then again, who stays in the hotel room in a casino environment? The pool is always busy so a bachelor would have a good time. Keep in mind that as always you get what you pay for. For the price... it was a good deal.

We'll stay somewhere else in the future.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/15/09
Not a good experience at all. We stayed in the Sedona Tower. The room was okay but very generic. For the price I guess that was to be expected. The hotel and casino are in need of some major repairs and cleaning. Many of the slot machines were poorly maintained. Many broken buttons and features that worked poorly. Saw lots of wallpaper that was peeling from the walls. The worse was the food facilities. We ate at the Hickory Steak House the first evening. The hostess was very distracted. When she took us for seating I asked her for a booth. Obviously it was inconvenient for her. There were many open booths and they were already clean. It was hard to figure out why this was a problem for her. She mumbled something about how she couldn't guarantee how long we would have to wait for service. The food was okay and the server did an adequate job. He did mess up the sides on one of the plates but nothing that we couldn't handle. The real problem was the next afternoon when we went to the Coco's in the hotel. The hostess seated us fairly quickly and gave us the menu's. The menu's really need to be replaced or at least cleaned. I have a feeling that the tables rarely see a good cleaning. Ours felt sticky in some areas and you could see wipe marks all over it. Now the waitress was something else. We ordered our beverages. She brought them back in a few minutes and started to leave. We told her we were ready and placed our order. We waited for a long, long time before our meal was served. She did not make one single trip back to our table during the meal to refill our beverage glasses or check if there was anything else we wanted. I had decided I would like a piece of pie. We tried to get her attention to no avail. She spent the majority of her time visiting patrons at another table. We got tired of waiting so we went to the hostess and told her we wanted to pay for our meal and leave. She took care of us and when we left the waitress was still visiting the other patrons. She had to see us leave from where she was standing. You would have thought she would have come over real quick to apologize for the service. Didn't happen. I sure hope the other patrons gave her a real good tip..............cause we sure didn't.

would stay again
By norma E, 08/09/09
I read many reviews on this hotel, most not being good. We stayed in the Sedona Tower and it was fine. We would stay there again with no problem. The beds were comfortable, plenty of hot water. The reviews I had read that were bad seemed to be about the Santa Fe tower and The Montery Tower, someone had suggested the Sedona Tower as it was newer so we requested the Sedona Tower. I found out that my brother helped build the original building. He did the ceiling and the drywall..I found that funny

We'll never stay here again.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/16/09
Mostly the facility was dirty, inside and out. Check out the stairwells, for example. We used them because the buildings are such a maze if you use the hallways and elevators. Our "non smoking" room smelled of smoke from the moment I opened the door. I can understand that they can't police their guests who ignore the rules in non-smoking rooms; but their housekeeping practices should be able to rid the rooms of stale smoke smell. The towels even smelled smoky. The oxygen mask I use while sleeping still smelled of smoke after I got home. Our server in the CoCo's restaurant downstairs was good; but even here the facilities looked under maintained and the menus looked and felt worn. I suspect that the few four- and five-star reviews I read for the Edgewater were written by members of their own PR department or by customers who were too drunk to see (or smell) clearly. I wish we had stayed at a Super 8. More value for the money and cleanliness to boot!

Great Deal for the Money!
By Debbie, 06/30/09
My husband & I stayed at the Edgewater this spring (April, 09) to celebrate an anniversary, and found it to be as fun & nice as it's been the last 25 years we've been going there. Yes, the decor is dated, but we found all employees to be friendly & helpful, and the room was neat & clean. We ate at Coco's & the buffet several times, and found both to be very good & plentiful. We're planning a return trip in the very near future. I reccomend this hotel, especially if you're traveling on a budget.
