Great Hotel for Families or Traveling Youth Teams
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/28/09
We stayed at the Airport Plaza while traveling to Reno for a baseball tournamnet. Overall the hotel was great. It was perfect for our team. The lobby was spacious and tastfully decorated. We were able to meet every morning in the lobby or courtyard for a team meeting. The restaurant served us a great breakfast. The rooms were great. I slept better here in thier comfy beds than I did at home. The front desk staff and restaurant staff was both patient, helpful and friendly. As I said we are a youth baseball team. The hotel is an safe convienant location that I felt comfortable having our team stay at. I highly reccommend The Airport Plaza to anyone traveling with youth sports teams or for any other reason.

Airport Plaza Restaurant
By Ellen, 04/05/09
I thought that I would try this restaurant out after receiving a coupon in the mail advertising a 2 for 1 deal...buy one meal get another meal free. I didn't get the deal because of a technicality. I ordered one entre and a burger-it had to be 2 entres. So, I didn't get the deal and had to pay full price. I'm not going back. I guess that they don't want local customers to return. I suggest Western Village Hotel and Casino!!!

Terrible Terrible Terrible
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/28/07
As others have written the hotel is close to the airport and pet friendly. Those are the only positives. After a one night stay, we were surprised to find a double charge when we received our credit card statement. I called the hotel to say that they had made a mistake. Immediately the "manager" said no they had not made a mistake but that I had booked two rooms and used one and then was charged for a no show for the other. What? No, I said, that is not true. I understand that it was an honest mistake, no harm, just credit my card. He said, I did make two reservation and now I was just upset b/c I have to now pay for the room we did not use. I have no idea how this happened, I'm in total disbelief and start saying this to him and he tells me he no longer wanted to talk to me. The story goes on and on, but the bottom line is I was shocked by how rude this man was, so indignant with zero customer service skills. What happened to "the customer is always right", especially when I am absolutely 100% right. Best Western should be appalled at how this man represents there business.

nightmare stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/30/07
from day 1 we had problems. 1st of all we should have had a downstairs room for my moms health reasons , but upon checking in we were put in an upstairs room. Specifically asked for non-smoking due to health reasons and we were put next to a smoker that had there door open and you had to pass thru a wall of smoke to get to our room. We go to open our door to the room and the top right inside part of the door fell out!!! No locks needed to get in our room either. So I go down to complain and the front desk manager(owners son) offers me a roll of duct tape and a towel. I said you are kidding me , right? he said no and then asked if I would like maintenance to come? DUH!!! so the 2 guys come up and I then am told that the room should not have even been rented out, it is unsafe. I then went back down to complain and mind you I have 2 kids with me and ask for a different room , the man says , sorry it looks like that is all we have. Oh, wait we have 1 more , but it is only a king. i say but my husband comes up tomorrow there is no way we will all fit in a king bed.but that I will go look. It was also next to a smoker. I go back to him and say that it won't work either and he then says that he will offer a discount on our 3rd night , but it didn't happen, the story has just begun. I have an asthma attack that night my daughter shocks herself on 1 of the switches , we wake up to our door being open because every time the person next to us opens their door ours would open. The blow dryer was attached to the wall with 1 srew , so when you used it you would have to hold the bracket to the wall!!! the curtain was broke and the windows were so that you could not open them for fresh air. I am constantly saying something to this man.On Sunday he informs me that he has rented our room and is going to have someone move our personal stuuf out ! I was upset! we are booked thru Monday. he then says that he is moving us to a king room again!!! I at this point am thinking ,is this real??? I told him that I would be there in 10 min. and do not touch our stuff. We show back up and confront him only to hear that he has worked really hard so that we can keep our room , that we already thru the next day anyway. i could continue to go on but then I would be writing a novel. i can say 1 thing and that is everyone else we have dealt with there has been very nice and professional. As i say it only takes 1 in a situation like this to make things bad.

terrible service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/26/07
I accidently left a day planner in my room. When I called to get it back I was told that housekeeping was too busy to look for it. They said Lost and found was huge. No wonder, they don't return anything.

Horrible
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/15/06
We were in Reno for a wedding and it was one of the places recommended by the family. Guess we hit it at a bad time. There 3 nights. They were remodeling the lobby and it was a mess. The dining area opened on to it and you could not eat there unless you like a layer of dust from sandblasting the lobby floors, all over your food. We had two "queen" beds, queen mattresses on regular size frames. Our 43 yo daughter fell out of her bed at least 3 times a night...... We had to put chairs next to it. Sauna and hot tub both broken and not repaired the whole time we were there. I complained and was told we would be get some compensation on bill. DIDN"T happen. The only good thing was a shuttle to Peppermill and Hilton so we could get a meal..... Housekeeping nice, but front desk rude and not the shapest pencils in the box. Never again..............

Nice Place, Nice Folks, Mediocre Food
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/15/04
Location is great (right next to airport) and internal decor is tasteful and elegant. The hotel could not find my reservation when I checked in, but the desk clerk cheerfully found me a room, copying and honoring my e-mail reservation. The food at the restaurant was mediocre and expensive (for Reno), and service was slow. The business center was excellent and available all night. The shuttle was immediately available, and the driver was great. The room was comfortable and tasteful.
