New Management - Beware
We have stayed at Western Inn South at least two- to - three times a month for about 4 years. Recently the management has changed. Along with this change, the prices increased significantly and the service decreased as well. We stayed on a Friday night and were to depart on Sunday. After leaving early Sat morning, we came back Sat evening to a room that had not been touched. When this was brought to the attention of the management, we were told that we must have left the do not disturb indication (which is a deadbolt lock) on. This was not the case as we had opened the door when we left in the morning and got the bag of towels (we had asked for extra the day before - they were not brought until the next morning). It isn't possible to open a door which has the deadbolt engaged. The manager told me that I had to be wrong and all I had done is complain since we got here. Our complaints were a second price increase in less than 6 months and that the phone service was completely inoperable – and apparently had been inoperable for weeks. At that point we were told that we should not be getting our discount anyway, and that since we had stayed the night before he didn't see what the 'big deal' was with our room not being clean. At this point, I asked for our money back so we could stay somewhere which was clean. This was refused. We were told that the motel wasn't making enough money and so they had to change policies so that stay-overs weren't cleaned every day and that it may have been a mistake. I have worked in the hospitality industry and other areas of management, and I know one thing - if you don't keep customers, you will not make money – and the customer is always right. After 4 years and about 150 stays at Western Inn South, this will be our last. On the positive side, the cleaning staff is usually very good, the price (for now anyway) is affordable, and the location is good. On the negative side, don't expect to feel valued - whether it's your first stay or your 151st.
