Excellent service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/3/09
From the time I entered the hotel I was greated by a young manager who gave me the warmest welcome I have recieved in my 25 yrs of spending an average of 60 days a year in hotels. the problems I encountered was remedied such as my room was not as hot as I usually keep it. they had it fixed with in 5 minutes and the manager that was at the front greeting people as I arrived showed up to see how I was doing. hank you Holiday Inn for your exceptional service.

Terrible
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/11/08
Where do I start? My husband and I booked a "nonrefundable" room at the Holiday Inn at the Plaza. First of all, this hotel is not really even that close to the Plaza. You have to cross a busy 6 lane road and walk quite a distance. Then coming back to the hotel, you must climb a steep hill that is difficult for 2 healthy 20 somethings! I'm not sure how they can offer "plaza view" rooms since the Plaza is such a distance and there are two large skyscrapers blocking any view. We walked through the hotel before checking in because the outside is quite run down. The lobby is updated, but when we got on the elevator and went up to walk some hallways we were appalled at what we saw. The carpet was so worn it had holes in some places, heaters were pulling away from the drywall, and the smell of smoke on all floors was so strong I wondered if they even had nonsmoking rooms. There were also food trays that looked like they had been in the hallway for quite some time. We were a bit too early though to see any cockroaches that had found their evening meal. Needless to say we went to another hotel to stay for the night, but we did give the Holiday Inn the courtesy of a cancellation so they could attempt to rent the room to someone else. We are still in the process of arguing with them about the "nonrefundable" rate that we paid. My guess is they know their hotel is not a place where most people will want to stay so they give low "nonrefundable" rates so that people such as myself will think they are getting a good deal and want to stay there. My husband has left the general manager numerous messages, only 1 of which has been returned. The general managers response was something like, I can't help you. Stay away from this hotel at all costs. There are too many shady things about this hotel to mention, but I will say it's not clean, it's not close to the Plaza, it's not in the best neighborhood for walking after dark, and no one there seems to want to take responsibility for anything that goes on. We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott for a bit more money and had an absolutely wonderful stay! Check it out!!

pass on this one
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/9/08
The mattress on the bed had to be at least 20 years old- VERY uncomfortable. A good portion of the hotel is not served by an elevator so you must climb stairs with your suitcases. By the way, they don't tell you this at check in. The only good thing about my stay there was shuttle bus driver. Very nice.

Not worth it at half the price
By Raptor, 4/14/06
The only view this hotel has is a view of the hotels we should have stayed at (Marriott). You can't see the hotel from the plaza, so how can you see the plaza from the hotel. You can only see 4 room windows from the extreme edge of the fountain on the far eastern edge of the plaza. And the walk down the hill (and back up) to the plaza is difficult for healthy people. The internet connection is a joke, I could not keep a connection in my room or even in the lobby. We had to use the public terminals. The rooms are crowded, the bed hard, and the pillows cheap. The TV Pay-per-View rates are atrocious. The water pressure is terrible, so do not use soap in the shower or use the toilet for any reason. The underground parking is poorly laid out, and the stalls are too narrow. The exercise room is ok, clean equipment but limited. The staff was friendly, but removed. We did not try the restaurant (we came to KC to eat real BBQ). The only bright spot we could find was the exceptional housekeeping. Our room was very clean both days.

Best Holiday Inn I've Ever Stayed In
By *Lay Hardy*, 4/14/06
Excellent location, pretty decent rooms, and the staff was top-notch - cheerful, very helpful and sincerely friendly. Great choice when visiting KC and you need a central but attractive location. It will be my home away from home every time I visit the city now.

Very warm.
By Becky, 12/31/05
We felt welcomed at all times as we came in and went out from the hotel. The location was very convenient for us. We especially enjoyed the underground parking and the fact that it was free too! The accomodations were great...very warm colors. The staff was very courteous and helpful. We will definitely plan to stay at this hotel again on our next trip.

KC 4 points
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/4/05
This was the first time that I had stayed at Four Points and overall, I have to rate my experience as very favorable. The location near the Plaza is very convenient, as well as a later check-out time, as opposed to some other hotel chains. It I am able to find a similar rate online for Four Points again, I will most cerainly stay there!

I'd stay there again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/12/04
The room was clean, well appointed and comfortable. The location was great, very close to shops and restaurants. The service was also great, and I found the staff very helpful for all of my needs. The hallways looked well used, but I guess that means a that quite a few people stay there. The carpets in the halls could use replacing, but you don't sleep or stay in the hallways, do you?
For all of the complaints about the parking garage, it wasn't all that bad. If you're driving an SUV or full-size pickup, you might want to find another parking spot.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel. Have fun!
