You gotta do this one
By Daryl, 02/06/10
We drove in from Dayton, Ohio and stayed two days. The service was great, the amenities were first class and the covenience was simply the best. We enjoyed everything about this place and in hindsight, wish we had opted for the breakfast package, as we wound up eating at the breakfast buffet (which was also very good). Everything we experienced was first class and at a really quite reasonable rate. I look forward to going back in January 2011. We have stayed at many different hotels across the country and this on ranks at the top of the list. I read these reviews before we went booked our rooms and I have to say that I agree with most of them. It's unfortunate that one of the respondants had a problem with odors in the room, I wish their stay had been as pleasant as ours was. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.

Do not bother staying there
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/05/09
My room had a horrible smell to it - like puke. The carpets had stains on them and were very old. The bathroom towels were old and ripped. My room was next to the service quaters which included doors slamming at all hours and loud noises. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone to stay. It is too bad because 42 North had good food and the service in there was excellent.

Time of my life
By Frank, 08/13/08
Rooms have an amazing view of the Detroit River and Canada. There was live entertainment on the riverfront and several nice resturants located within the hotel. I enjoyed the meals and service provided by the staff and I can't wait to go again.

Very Nice Conference Hotel
By MICHAELR, 02/12/08
I was at the Detroit Marriott for several days during a conference in early 2008. The conference rate for the rooms was not at all expensive, and the rooms were quite nice. My room on the 21st floor had a great view of the river and the bridge leading into Windsor, Canada. The beds were very comfortable, and the room was clean and well appointed. Even though the room had floor to ceiling windows and it was 3 degrees outside one night, the room was cozy and warm. There was plenty of (relatively affordable) parking, the dining options were good in general, and the restaurant on the 74th floor was really very nice, although not inexpensive! The mall and food court attached to the hotel is a nice touch, although many of the shoppes seemed to be closed, or have limited hours. Other restaurant and shopping options were nearby, however, and the hotel is within a couple of blocks of the annual "Winter Blast" venue. I really enjoyed this hotel, and would recommend it as a competitively priced option in the downtown area.

GOING ONCE A YEAR!
By Cookie, 10/21/07
I first visited this hotel this past summer. I loved the nice cozy setting of the room. The service was excellent from the valet parking to the housekeeping. I loved the convenience of having fast food restaraunts right in the hotel. A movie theater and the scenery. Going outside at night and looking at the bridge to Canada was awesome. This hotel is huge! Believe it or not my favorite part was getting lost. I would recommend this hotel for any type of vacation. Especially family reunions.

Clean Rooms and Great Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/04/07
The hotel was under construction during my visit. I could hear the vibration from the drilling through the walls in my room. I called the front desk to switch my room and was quickly taken care of. When I called I was given a new room number and when i got to the front desk the new room number was already saved in the system. I didn;t have to go through the task of finding the woman that I spoke to earlier. It was easy!

spectacular views
By Lady, 10/02/07
While I was in Detroit only a very short 4 days on business, I was immensely impressed with this hotel. Due to an overbooking issue, I was upgraded to a deluxe suite and was overwhelmed by the view of the Detroit River through floor-to-ceiling windows. All my needs were met, room service was perfect. While I don't expect to be returning to Detroit, if I did I would aspire to return to these accommodations!

Great place to stay
By CLASSYLIND, 06/18/07
Getting a room facing the water is an awesome experience. It has a very gorgeous view in the evening. If you just needed to get away and just wanted to relax I would recommend this.
