major disapointment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/4/05
am writing this letter to relay the many inconveniences we experienced at our recent stay at the Ramada Inn located at 20777 Eureka Rd., Taylor MI 48180, from July 20 to 24, 2005..
My son was competing the World Inline Cup recently held in Taylor, Michigan. Your hotel was listed as one of the approved accommodation locations and our team chose yours.
My major disappointment was I was not advised this location was undergoing major renovations at the time I reserved our room. I feel this is unacceptable as I did call the hotel directly and should have been made aware of this.
Upon check-in we were forced to weave our way through a maze of traffic cones and caution tape as they were sealing the parking lot. This process took 3 of the days we were there.
The lobby was in total shambles. There was no counter when I checked in and there were wires hanging from the ceiling, furniture in the lane out front ( which was still there when we checked out), no tiles on the floor, dust everywhere and constant noise. I had to return later that same day to complete the check-in as the computers were not functioning when we first arrived.
We stayed in Room 580 which is a suite. The cooling system in this room was not up to my normal standards. I have stayed in numerous hotels before and have always found that if I turned the cooling unit on high I would have to turn it off within an hour as the room would be too cold. Our unit stayed on high the full stay but never got that cool. The saving grace was I managed to find a fan in a storage room across the hall from our unit.
The hallways and elevator were liking walking into a sauna. You will notice I wrote elevator. That is because there were 2 elevators, but only 1 was turned on during our entire stay which made for numerous long waits. Oh, by the way, the ceiling in the elevator was plywood.
The second morning I heard a knock on our door at approximately 8:15 a.m. from housekeeping. She knocked but entered the room before I could answer the door. She asked if I wanted the room made up. I said no, as there were still people sleeping. She asked if we needed towels or coffee and again I replied in the negative. I assumed she would return later in the day. Guess what, she didn't.
We notified the front desk of this and they said they would note it and asked if we needed anything. I asked for a garbage bag and was provided one, but I feel our room should have been looked after. We never heard anything more from them.
