never again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/15/10
The front desk was rude and really could have cared less about their customers waiting.... They must have been playing games on the computer. The bathroom floor looked like it had not been cleaned for awhile, and the room smelled stale and stuffy. There were young kids running down the halls at one in the morning screaming and slamming doors.A place like this may be suitable for your dog, but not your young children. A majority of the guests were drunk and noisy. I had booked the room because my daughter had a program she was attending there and it was convenient. We will be in traverse city for the next 5 months for weekends , but we won't be staying there.

Made it worth our while
By Essie, 10/3/09
They've made so many changes to the Holiday Inn in the past few years I was impressed. Usually you go to a Holiday Inn for that comfort that you find at every Holiday Inn across the country, but the decorations are very contemporary I loved the new age feel. The beach was right there! All we had to do was walk about the door and we felt like we were in paradise. The front desk staff were so accomodating! I called ahead because we came up for my wife's birthday and they put together a nice gift basket and a bottle of wine and had it waiting in our jacuzzi suite for us when we checked in! We woke to a fantastic sunrise and a wonderful breakfast delivered to our room . We will definately be back to stay again!!

Party On!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/26/08
The Holiday Inn in Traverse City is the place to party. It has two bars inside and a large bar outside. Due to this, there is alot of action and a fun atmosphere. The crowd is a strange mix of old and young and all look like they are from the 1980s. It also has a beach area and parks on either side. There is also a beach at the Holiday has special sand that consists of 10% cigarette butts from the party machine. That's OK because there is a perfect city beach next door. The Holiday allows pets which is great and the pet room we had was very clean. The service at the Holiday Inn is not so good in the restaurants or the at the desk. Towells also seem to be in great shortage. We ran out and called for more which showed up 1.5 hours later. Despite the poor service, the Holiday Inn is a good place to stay. It is in a great waterfront location which is a short walk downtown. It is also fun to party with the ancient ones.

"People" what do you want!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/17/07
Holy Cow, you want a nice vacation spot or a back rub/foot rub. You pay for location and they have been fixing it up a little every year! Go to the rich place down the street if you have Money too burn. I warn you you. perfect you dont get. Rest you do. Good Breakfast.

Will never go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/17/07
I wish I would of read the reviews before I booked it, Thank God we only stayed one night, for the outlandish price we paid for the hotel, You would think the air would work in August, they have all the rooms set at 70, in which you would think it would be cool, wrong it was musty and stuffy we had to go down stairs and get a fan at 1:00 o'clock in the morning, there was no air circulation in the room, the staff was awful they did'nt seem to care, and when I told her I set the thermostat at 60 to get it a little cooler, that's when she told me all the rooms are set at 70, I had such a hard time breathing all night because of ashma, but she just did'nt seem to care, I quess too bad for me. I would not recommend this Holiday Inn to anyone. It is very outdated and the rooms are nothing to write home about. Don't let the outside of the Hotel fool you, it looks better outside than inside. I do have to add they did take $50.00 off the bill, but I would have rathered paid a high price and been comfortable for the night than miserable and have them deduct the money from the bill.

Rooms need a clean face lift
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/10/07
The room smelled musty and smoking for a non smoking room..rooms are considered lakefront when looking at black roof tops and patio. Front desk clueless on almost everything. Will not return to this Traverse City Holiday INN.

Add me to guests treated poorly by desk staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/28/07
Late afternoon -weekend desk staff are rude and confrontational. Booked two rooms, three nights each more than a month ago. Paid credit card charges for room more than a month ago. Our magnetic key quit working the second day, so I went to the desk to get new keys. The gal that I thought was going to help me just got done with with another couple, who didn't appear terribly happy with her. 3 other people behind the desk were helping no one while I waited. My Id is locked in my room I can't get into. Instead of checking to see that the room was paid for 3 nights, and simply saying "I'm sorry, we made a mistake", which is all she would have had to say, she questions me making me believe I am going to get charged again for the third night of the stay, already paid for. Nothing but a hassle. She wouldn't finish getting me the new key when I asked her if she enjoyed ruining patron's vacations. Next gal was no better. Never stay here again without an apology.

Family and Pet Heaven
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/19/07
We visit this holiday inn each August for a few days on the big lake (this will be our 4th yr). The dogs and kids love it! It's just an average place but very comfortable and pretty clean. Service has always been good for us.

Trashy Holiday Inn
By K, 6/28/07
We stayed here just last week. I had booked the Internet Special....bad choice! Our room was right above the night club. We have a 5 month old baby, and this was a horrible spot to try and get any sleep. The rooms and decor were very outdated! Our partial lakeside view room was a joke. To actually see the lake you had to press your nose up to the glass and peer right. The front desk was very rude. They would not change our room, stating we booked the room at a special price and they usually use the "above the nightclub" rooms for this. They knew we had a small baby, and would still not change it. Our non-smoking room smelled of smoke! We stayed our 2 non-refundable nights here, and then moved to another hotel down the block which was WAY MORE CLASSY and almost the same price. I'd never return here!
