Worst Place I Have EVER Stayed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/16/11
The walls are paper thin and the hot water heating system banged so loud every 30 to 50 minutes. Every time it banged I was woken and come morning time I was exhausted. I travel a lot and can honestly say that this was the worst experience I have ever had. There are a lot of great bed and breakfasts on the island, so I recommend staying elsewhere.

Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/14/10
The Jared Coffin Inn came highly recommended but we were a bit disappointed. The inn is marketed as a very elegant bed and breakfast but lacked some very basic things including breakfast! Their breakfast consisted of toast your own bagels and coffee in paper to-go cups. Also, you can't control the air conditioner from your own room. No whirlpool tub either as described on the reservation. but

Favorite Vacation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/26/10
Nantucket and the Jared Coffin House is the Tippen Family favorite vacation. Upon arrival you feel as if you have traveled beyond the shores of the United States into another country. The Jared Coffin House is located in the heart of all activity and makes for a perfect vacation spot. Nantucket is without chain shores with only local establishments unlike those found elsewhere. Upon arriving at JCH you feel as if you have come home after being away for some time. The public rooms are beautiful and very confortable. Bedrooms are decorates as homes were in years past. Very clean, wonderful beds, and other needs supplied. Even though the dinning room was closed, Jared Coffin is close to many good eating places as well as the main street shops. To be in walking distants of wharf, main street, churches, museums and specialty shops has a definite advantage. We have been to Nantucket and stayed at the Jared Coffin House many times, and plan to return as often as possible. It is definitely a getaway from Texas living. We recommend it for a unforgettable vacation.

Its not the old JCH anymore !
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/3/09
Forget it ! The Jared Coffin House is nothing like it was in the old days. Restaurant & Bar closed. The service poor. Very overpriced.

Not once it once was !
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/9/07
The Jared Coffin House changed owners / management recently. The new owners have made many changes to the JCH - including closing the Restaurant " Jareds " & the bar " Tap Room." The restaurant & bar were very popular & wonderful places to relax & enjoy the Nantucket experience - legendary meeting places for natives & tourists alike. The previous owners took alot of pride in rendering high level customer service & satisfaction - the new owners do not seem to care if the guests like the hotel or not. The new management is very cold & unresponsive. The rooms need an updating & renovation. If you stayed at & enjoyed the " JC " in the past - dont bother to go back. I certainly will not, nor would I recommend this hotel to anyone.

Appears that new ownership has destroyed this inn
By John, 12/5/05
Other reviews decribe this establishment adequately, but the new owners have increased prices sky high and reduced service levels to the abyss. We just felt gouged and ignored. The front desk staff had no idea regarding restaurant bookings, cab bookings and kept us waiting often. Thay called us back to answer a question and when we returned their call, they had no record of the information thay had called about. Breakfast was ordinary, but we had to wait half an hour in an area with inadequate seating. We will not be back.

The Restaurant was Great!
By Allen, 9/11/05
We only ate breakfast in their restaurant, so this evaluation is limited. Furthermore, as a precursor to any travel plans and expenditures in Nantucket, one has to advise that things are very [exploitively?] expensive in this resort area. From my observation, it seems that meals are at least $10 to twice what they cost on the mainland and hotel accomodations easily double unless you have a special discounting deal. My observation, too, is that things such as clothes, jewelery and other general faire (ice cream cones, bikes, small gifts or necessities) are wildly inflated over their comparable prices on the mainland. So let the chooser of vacation destinations beware! That being said, we had several very enjoyable breakfasts at Jarred's and were served promptly and courteously by an abundance of Russian servers (all with impecable English). For the price, the meal was an excellent bargain. I would definitely breakfast here again and dine if I had more time.
