The only good thing was the view
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/05/09
I got the nicest type of room that had a view of the Mayflower- we were very excited. When we opened the door to our room we were hit by a wall of the worst smell of old cigarettes. It was disgusting. The room is old, dumpy. No hair dryers! I also got double charged for this - so be careful! Be sure to stop by the winery right next door!

A wonderful New England motel and historic spot
By gagirl, 08/13/08
Having lived near Plymouth for many years, we frequently go back and will stay no where but at the Governor Bradford. No other hotel offers "on the water" views. Yes, the hotel is old. My whole family stayed there in 1966 when we first moved up to Duxbury which is near the Plymouth area. But for the price and being from the area, if the view is important, this is the place to stay. The rooms have always been clean, smelled fine and most guests bring the chairs from the room out to the balcony at night to watch the harbor and its activities. Guests from all over Maine, New England, etc. seem to really appreciate the views and talking with their hotel "neighbors". Many good restaurants are within walking distance of the motel. If the purpose of your visit to Plymouth is to stay at a deluxe hotel, this is not the place for you. However, if you want to experience Plymouth as it has been for many years, enjoy the views of the harbor, bug light, Miles Standish monument, walk to many great restaurants and to Plymouth Rock and other historic areas, this is the place for you. Plymouth is not a resort. It is an historic town and for me, the Governor Bradford is the only option. The additional cost for the waterfront view is more than worth it. If you are looking for a luxurious hotel, stay somewhere else. Leave the available rooms for the people who really enjoy the hotel and the beauty of the old New England area.

Great to be back!
By EDWARD, 07/01/08
As a former Plymouth resident,I look forward to staying at the Gov. Bradford's.This is the part of the Old Plymouth that I remember and enjoy going back to every summer. The staff is friendly and polite and I would recommend this place over any of the Higher End Hotels.

WE STAY EVERY YR SAME ROOM 3RD OF JULY TO THE 5TH SOMETIMES THE 6TH & WHEN EVER ELSE WE CAN. AS FOR THE ROOMS WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FOR ROOM ON THE WATER FRONT FACING THE HARBOR ? THEN YOUR NOT FROM THIS AREA TO KNOW .NEVER HAD A PROBLEM EXCEPT FOR YOU OVER DRINKERS THAT CALL 1/2 OF YOUR FRIENDS UP TO COME WATCH THE FIRE WORKS ON YOUR DECK AND YOUR COMPANY THAT VISITS SQUEEZES OUT US BIG PAYERS FOR THE OCEN FRON ROOMS. YOU'S ALSO DONT SEAM TO MIND TRASHING THE POOL AREA AS WELL.THE SCENERY FROM THE DECK IS WONDERFUL AND I WILL KEEP GOING BACK AS LONG AS THEIR THERE. THE ROOMS ARE CLEAN AND SOME OF YOU'S ARE GOING A LITTLE OVER BOARD ON THE COMPLAINTS.

A wonderful experience!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/12/08
Had a wonderful time staying here in May,2008. Exceptional view. Exceptional helpful staff. Wonderful breakfast muffins. Excellent location. Came back here AGAIN to stay on the same trip on our way back to the Boston airport. Both rooms were fine. We were quite comfortable and no musty smell. My recommendation to the motel would be to make all rooms and outside hallways nonsmoking! Thank you to the motel's staff for their helpful and friendly attitudes!!!!!! Sure hope we can come back someday!!!!! Nancy Jo and Bob from Indiana

The worst motel i have ever stayed at
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/25/08
The location was great but the motel was aweful. the smell was really nasty and the motel was a huge dump. i though when we got there it was some sort of a joke. i would never stay there ever again. Also i didn't like that the doors were outside. the breakfast they provided was nasty they had muffins that taste like carpet and it was just so sick.

What an awful, smelly room!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/05/08
Walking in the door and the stink of musty mold or mildew or wet dog hits quite hard. Turned the family around, told the desk person and was given a refund. Staff didn't seem too concerned - some desperate tourist would take it, I'm sure. The room is dark like a dungeon and nothing at all like the pictures in the advertising. They knew when we were checking in and still couldn't even turn on the AC ahead of time? It was record breaking heat that week! The only way this hotel stays in business is that the tourists will take it as ALL the hotels book solid in the summer. If you can - avoid this one!

Stinky musty rooms
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/01/06
The first 2 rooms we were given were on the lower level and when I opened the door a skinky musty smell flowed out kind of like a damp basmet smell. We complained and were moved to the 2nd floor unfortunately the odor wasn't much better. There are no windows that open and it's so close to the water, that's what must give it the musty odor. We went in Oct can't imagine how it is in the summer. The heating didn't work in our room and it did get quite cold at night. Also the curtain rail came right out of the wall when we went to draw them my 2 year old daughter was under neath and it almost landed on her head. No apology given, and nothing offered off the bill. definately not reccomeded. The only good thing about the motel is the amazing view over looking the harbour.

Go some place else........
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/19/06
We had a wedding in Plymouth, MA and booked 7 rooms with conf. #'s When one of our guests (my son and family) arrived at the hotel they were greeted with, we only have 3 rooms. This of course caused a real problem, seeing we had counted on 7. Three for my daughter and guests and four for us. As it ended up my son and his inlaws had to double up, (two crying kids) and one of our guests had to go home, (an hour and a half ride) After a bit of time the manager was able to come up with one more room, a early departure he said. This still left us short 2 rooms. Unfortunately there was no attempt to find us rooms or some sort of compensation. My thoughts..... Go some where else.
