A wonderful New England motel and historic spot
Having lived near Plymouth for many years, we frequently go back and will stay no where but at the Governor Bradford. No other hotel offers "on the water" views. Yes, the hotel is old. My whole family stayed there in 1966 when we first moved up to Duxbury which is near the Plymouth area. But for the price and being from the area, if the view is important, this is the place to stay. The rooms have always been clean, smelled fine and most guests bring the chairs from the room out to the balcony at night to watch the harbor and its activities. Guests from all over Maine, New England, etc. seem to really appreciate the views and talking with their hotel "neighbors". Many good restaurants are within walking distance of the motel. If the purpose of your visit to Plymouth is to stay at a deluxe hotel, this is not the place for you. However, if you want to experience Plymouth as it has been for many years, enjoy the views of the harbor, bug light, Miles Standish monument, walk to many great restaurants and to Plymouth Rock and other historic areas, this is the place for you. Plymouth is not a resort. It is an historic town and for me, the Governor Bradford is the only option. The additional cost for the waterfront view is more than worth it. If you are looking for a luxurious hotel, stay somewhere else. Leave the available rooms for the people who really enjoy the hotel and the beauty of the old New England area.
