Weekend Retreat
On a July weekend, I went with my wife to the Econo Lodge in Lenox, MA to get away for a bit. The check-in was a breeze since we already had reservations, and although there were restaurants on premisis, we decided to eat at a great seafood place down the road an employee suggested called Dakota. The two restaurants on the property were an Indian place and a bar/pizza place called Uncle Fester's or something along those lines; the pizza place was only open Thursday-Saturday in the evening. That night we went to sleep early, and when we got into the room around 9:00 p.m., we noticed a spider in the corner. We called the front desk, who sent someone to resolve our problem very quickly. The entire staff was very friendly, and someone gave us a second TV to use with our DVD player upon request. The next day, we ate breakfast at the hotel, where there was this nice setup, and had a pretty big variety of food. There were Cherios and Corn Flakes and boiled eggs, and there was this little waffle maker for guests to use. After that, my wife and I went for a little sightseeing in the area and saw a waterfall, looked around at a scenic view from the top of a mountain, and went to a fantastic art museum called the Clarke. That night, we decided to have some pizza at the lounge, and were surprised to see the place jam packed with about 200-250 people. Luckily, they still had room for us and the food was delicious and not too pricey (I guess that was why there were so many people there.). Lucky for us, they also had an antique car convention going on, and we had so much fun looking at all these old cars just gathered in the lot. Thats when i becane surprise that this was only a two-star Econo Lodge when it was more fun that a lot of four-star Marriots I have stayed at. I needed to check my e-mail, and asked the owner of the place, who I met at the car show, if I could use a computer some where, he kindly showed me to a computer in the tastefully furnished main lobby that I could use. Unfortuanea tely, the high-speed was down, so I had to use a dial-up connection, which I was more than apoligized to for. We will be coming again to watch the Tanglewood concerts performed by the Boston Symphony Orchestra very soon.
