No air conditioning for several days, no assistance relocating

10/22/07 A friend and I booked 2 rooms at the Tidewater Inn for 3 days. When we arrived on Monday 10/22, it had been in the mid 80 degree range outdoors for several days. The hotel's compressor had broken several days prior to our arrival. Although the lobby and restaurant had a/c, none of the sleeping rooms did, dur to the compresor. We were offered/issued fans when we checked in (never a good sign).
Unfortunately (and maybe this is also a fire safety hazard), the windows are painted shut and even the bellman could not open the window in several rooms to get fresh air and utilize the fan. The hotel did not know when the repairs would be made because they were extensive. They should have closed the hotel or made arrangements at the nearby Hampton Inn for guests, given the continuing hot temperatures and lack of a/c. I was appalled.
