(Mostly) Pleasant experience at the Fenwick Inn
By Tania, 07/02/09
Positives: - With wife and two kids, our corner room still had plenty of space - Friendly desk staff; eager to help with restaurant suggestions and directions - Plenty of parking; even when you get back to your room late at night - Room had no unpleasant odors or interesting stains in the bed or carpet. Some, however, on the ceiling?!?! Areas of improvement: - The pool is small and needs ventilation (felt like a sauna at times) One of the nights, there was some drunk guy pounding on all the doors of the floor at 3am. He kept doing it until one of the staff members (whom I called) asked him to stop. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone on a budget. We paid $89 per night. Most motels/hotels in the area, charged twice that.

Will Never Return!!!
By Janet J, 09/07/08
On July 26th 08 we arrived only to encounter a nasty front desk clerk. It was 3:48pm, and she made it very clear that we could not check in until 4:00pm. First... The room smelled like cigarettes, the floors were so dirty that my socks were black, the bathroom toilet had hair on the bowl and the bed sheets smelled funny. I really wish a health/hotel inspector would check this place out soon...

Not again.
By Laura, 08/27/08
My husband and I decided on the Fenwick Inn for our HONEYMOON spot. Bad choice. Not only is the hotel miles from the boardwalk - the quality of the hotel was much less than we were expecting. First off, check-in time is 4pm. We got there around 5pm, stood in line...both staff members had attitudes. The girl gave us the key to our room...we get there, it's a room with 2 beds. We booked a single king bed. Went back downstairs and stood in the other guy's line. He said there were no king rooms available! He told us he'd call us when one was ready. We asked if he meant on our cell phones since we didn't have a room. He chuckled and said, "Yes...you have THIS room. (the wrong one)" When my husband asked how long it'd take to have a room, the guy laughed again and said, "Your guess is as good as mine. They were supposed to be ready at 4." DUH. Not a great start to our trip. The pool was nice...that was probably the best part. When we first got to our room, there was hair in the toilet and on the toilet seat. Not pleasant. The room was OKAY. Nothing great, but nothing terrible (other than the toilet). We wouldn't go back here. In fact, we checked out a day early...we'd be happier at home. Never again...

Never Again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/21/07
Spent 3 nights, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The price Friday and Sat was more than double of Thursday. Our original room was filthy. Large stains on carpet, mold in bathroom, furniture looked dirty. Would not walk on the floor without shoes. We moved on Friday to 521, newly done, looks like 2 rooms converted to one large suite. Still smelled new! Of couse this cost even more! I'm sure next year it will be as dirty as the rest of the hotel!

Left after FIVE minutes
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/17/07
PLEASE do not stay here. My husband and I thought that the Inn looked great from their website and from other reviews so we booked it. Upon entering the hotel, we were already a little put off. The lobby was like a circus. Kids and people everywhere and the staff was unfriendly. The worst part was the room. Walking from the elevator to the room we could smell the slight odor of urine which got worse once we entered our room. We opened the door to find the floors dirty, the light switches covered in grime, and we couldn't take the smell. We immediately checked out and to be honest, the employees didn't seem that surprised or taken aback by our complaints. We then spent the rest of our day frantically trying to find another hotel to stay at. Save yourself the time and DO NOT book here!!!

Yucky!
By zekcy, 08/09/07
We stopped in ocean city for a night on the way to DC. My attraction was the pool because I have a 7 year old. Location: It is so far from Trimpers Rides and there is a lot of traffic. It's away from the main part of the town not within walking distance to anything worth seeing. Cleanliness: The ceiling was falling in and the mildewed popcorn ceiling was painted over in three shades of eggshell white. The carpet was soaking wet and the room smelled of old musty dog. The bathroom was mildewed from top to bottom and it felt as if you needed to take a antibiotic when you got out. YUCK! Outdated!! Pool: Don't be fooled by the pictures. The water is green and full of pee. I felt like I needed to be disinfected after I got out. I would rather have sprayed my daughter in the parking lot with a water hose. Really, pump out the extras 40 bucks to stay at one of the more reputable chains.

BED BUG CENTRAL
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/16/07
THIS WAS THE WORST HOTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED IN! I TRAVEL A LOT AND HAVE STAYED IN SOME DIVES BUT THIS WAS BY FAR THE WORST!!! THERE WERE HOLES IN THE CEILING, LARGE WATER STAINS ON THE CEILING ABOVE THE BED. MOLD AND MILDEW EVERWHERE. THE CARPET LOOKED LIKE IT HAD BEEN USED IN A AUTO MECHANICS SHOP. BROKEN DRAWERS AND LIGHT FIXTURES. NO ROOM PLAQARD OUTSIDE ROOM. SMELLED LIKE MOLD. POOR SERVICE FROM FRONT DESK PERSONS. WHEN ASKED TO SPEAK WITH A MANAGER WAS ADVISED THEY DID NOT WORK THE WEEKENDS AND THIS WAS HE HEIGHT OF SUMMER VACATION SEASON. WOKE UP WITH 15-20 BEDBUG BITES. I WOULDN'T LET MY DOG STAY THERE. AND I HAVE A VIDEO TO BACK IT ALL UP WITH!

Won't Hurry Back Here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/26/07
Although the rates may be cheap, you get what you pay for. I have stayed here several times and not once did all three elevators work, only one worked each time. The rooms have fire hazardous - mutliple cords plugged into one extension cord and cords are run under carpeting. Stairwells are dirty, dirty laundry and dirty dishes sit in hallways an entire day. The Spa - is a joke - it is jets in the pool. Front desk staff is not over friendly, they have never offered advise on places to eat or things to see. Also, I had a problem getting something returned that I accidently left in the room.

It was horrendous!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/21/07
We went to Fenwick for the weekend-this past weekend. When we got to the room we noticed the mold...all over...from the ceiling, to the a/c unit, to the window tracks. It was also on the ceiling covering the restaurant-Jordan's Rooftop. I told the front desk of our disappointment and was asked if we'd like another room. The only thing I heard from other guests was about the lack of cleanliness in their rooms too. I came home and contacted the Worcester Co Dept of Environmental Health-only to find out they have NO regulations for mold in hotels. They did take my complaint about the restaurant, but we will NEVER return. I will tell EVERYONE I know of the terrible conditions we had.
