Never Again
By ,
I visited Maine for the first time during Lobster Fest 2011. I can honestly say my stay at the Trade Winds was the low point in my vacation. The rooms were ok but the breakfast was nothing to brag about. The very worst thing was during the festival the hotel sold parking spots to festival visitors which were not staying at the hotel. The price of the room was increased $50/night during the festival and you would lose your parking if you leave. We left one day to run up to Camden only to find no parking places when we returned. The kid they had selling the parking places was extremely rude and confrontational. He started cursing when we tried to explain that we were paying guest of the hotel and wanted a parking spot. He wanted me to park my Harley out next to the road. I refused and spoke with the owner who was anything but apologetic. His resolution was to have me park next to the garbage dumpster in something that wasn't a parking spot. We met another couple who commented that they only could see attractions which were within walking distance from the hotel because they were afraid if they left in their car they would not have a spot to park when they returned. It should not be this way. For $200/night you should have a place to park. I will return to the festival one day but I will not stay at the Trade Winds.

We have never had a bad room or service
By ,
My husband and I travel to Maine from Florida approximately two to three times a year. We have stayed at the Tradewinds each time and absolutely love it. We have never had a bad room or service. The staff is friendly and goes out of their way to help in any way that they can. A pure joy after the terrible service you receive in Florida. We have recommended it to our daughter who is going to Maine in July, and our friend who will be visiting from Australia in September. The motel is in the process of renovating and they are doing an excellent job and the work has never interferred with our stay. We will be going back in September, and once again plan on staying at the Tradewinds. Good job people and thank you for a good time.

Whenever I plan a trip to the coast of Maine...
By ,
Whenever I plan a trip to the coast of Maine this is the first place I call. Located right outside of Camden and in the heart of Rockland, they offer everything I need to enjoy my trip. Their prices are great for the ocean view rooms you can enjoy. Offering an indoor swimming pool and excercise room, dual queen size beds per room, and a nice walk to everything I need, there is no reason for anyone who frequently visits this beautiful part of Maine to stay anywhere else. They are about a half hour drive away from the tourist town of Camdem and perfect for anyone wishing to go there without wanting to stay amongst the crowd. There is also the famous Mount Battie close by to either hike or drive up, offereing awe inspiring views of the coastline and Camden. Portland is just over two hours away should someone looking to go there be looking for a hotel away from the city. Your stay also includes access to the hotels restaurant, offering more than above average hotel faire. I persoanlly have been coming to this area for the past 20 years and have tried other lodgings, but no other hotel is more suited to my needs.

Location is very centeral to everything
By ,
Location is very centeral to everything. I was treated very well when a loud grouop occupied the next room. I was given a different room for the night and I greatly appreciated that service. Overlooking the water, seeing thed sunrise. The view from the 5th floor was excellent. Having a daily newspaper was nice too! I also appreciated having the room straightened, bed made and clean towels each day. Very good service. Thank you so much.

GREAT
By ,
My wife and I visited Tradewinds wile on our honey moon. we had No plans just headed north. We cannot understand these bad reviews, AT ALL. this hotel had tons of character and charm, the room was immaculate, including flat screen T.V, hardwood floors, king size bed with comfy sheets and blankets, great view from private balcony, friendly staff, the indoor pool and hot tub were GREAT, an added bonus on the 2 rainy days, a quick stroll to the water and down town, and the restaurant was excellent, "get the obvious, LOBSTER ROLL".

Recent stay at the Trade Winds Motel
By ,
The location was really very good. Easy access to the wharf and various attractions (few though there are). The breakfast was adequate and sufficient. The only problem was the first room assignment was fair. The toilet made a horrific noise when flushed and the odor in the room from the atomizer that the housemaids use absolutely stunk to high heaven. After complaining, another room was assigned to us. Again, the toilet ran after it was flushed and the airconditioner sounded like a Mac truck. The room also had that awful smell to it. I removed the airfreshener from the wall outlet and tried to air out the room as much as I could. But it was very warm (unusual for Maine) and it was still stuffy. In addition to this, I found leftover washclothes in the bathtub from the previous party. (yech!) As far as accomodations ..location was fine, but the hotel could use a very serious makeover and lessons in housekeeping, plumbing etc. Sorry..it's an honest opinion.

Favorite Get-Away
By ,
My husband and I, and sometimes our dog, Dandy, have been visiting Rockland and staying at Trade Winds for many years, usually twice a year. It's such a great place - walking distance to lots of interesting things and restaurants, and so close to the water. The boardwalk is wonderful. The rooms and service have always been very good and pleasant.

Lovely Stay In New England
By ,
I had a very pleasant three-day stay at the Trade Winds. The view is extraordinary, the staff very pleasant and the room clean and tidy. The Maine Lighthouse Museum is just across the street and the Rockland Lighthouse is just out the window. Luckily I brought my own hairdryer and didn't require an iron and ironing board, because these are not provided. However, they do have a nice indoor pool and exercise facility. As I told the staff at checkout, "I'll be staying here every time I return to the Camden area". Can't beat the value.

Great Location
By ,
The room was clean and gave us what we wanted. It was a little hard to navigate around the hotel due to the additons and different wings, etc. but soon found our way around. The roof sitting area is wonderfully cool in the summer and early fall. Great view up there, too. BYOB and relax!
