We've been going here for 29 years!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/13/09
We've been going here for 29 years, as long as we've been married. We've only missed a couple of years because of illness. We look forward to June so we can rest on our private porch at the cottage by the ocean. Yes, it's true some cottages are outdated, but that's some of the charm? If you want a renovated cottage, all you have to do is ask and they will try to accommadate. The staff are very friendly. Each cottage has a wonderful ocean view. We have stayed in some of the renovated cottages as well as one special one we like which has not been renovated. We can't wait until next June!

Quiet, Friendly, No-Frills
By tired travelers, 6/15/07
Stayed here in June of 2006 and the motel section had been renovated. Definitely an OLD property, but very clean. Motel rooms had a nice deck to sit and look at the ocean, good for anyone with small children as the "decks" are kinda fenced-in like a playpen, kids won't wander off. No pool, but the ocean and Moose Point State Park are nearby for beachcombing and hiking. Maine is full of accomodations like this. Due to heavy demand, summer prices are high. Yet these places only fill-up during two months of the year, and you cannot continually renovate and update rooms when the "season" is always so short. Some of the cottages looked newer than others, and the "beach" was mostly a pebble walkway near the ocean. A few restaurants close by but not really walking distance. Right on busy route 1, and light-sleepers might need earplugs in the motel section or in the higher-on-the-hill cottages. Beautiful view from most rooms and cottages.

DON'T STAY HERE!
By MarilynJ, 8/16/05
We read the reviews left at this website and hoped that we would have a good experience since 2 of the reviews were positive and only 1 was negative. BIG MISTAKE. We were not one of the lucky people who got to have one of the 5 renovated rooms. We had the worst accommodations in a hotel ever. The room with its two double beds (that have to be over 30 years old with its surface about 10 inches off the floor) was basically ratty. What a dump!!! The shower head height was no more than 4 1/2 feet high. The heater in the bathroom was all rusted and had pieces missing. Any work that had been done in that room was done poorly. Room 11 (ours) smelled very musty. No furnishings in that room had been replaced in 30+ years. The furniture did not even make sense . . . it was just filler. It had a tiny television. We paid $125 to stay here for one night in August. We were up at 6 a.m. to get out of there by 6:30 a.m. You know, we should have been suspicious when the only thing good the desk clerk could say about the room was that it had a 4-cup coffeemaker.
