Nice Experience Until the End
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/30/09
This was our first trip to New Orleans. The hotel was nice and the service was great up until the last day. The Bayou Classic was going on and Bourbon Street was wall to wall - so much so we had trouble just getting in and out of the hotel at night. Security and the staff on duty did absolutely NOTHING to curb the people shouting and cursing and leaving trash everywhere on Saturday Night. When I mentioned I was a little unhappy about feeling unsafe and being kept awake from the inside disruptions the snippy little girl behind the desk basically called me a racist. I could care less what race someone is but when I pay very inflated weekend fees I expect to not have fire alarms being pulled and kids running up and down the hallways yelling and screaming, especially people that were not staying in the hotel to begin with. Even the singer in the bar was upset with the goings on! I'll probably come back to NO but it won't be to stay at the Sonesta thanks to the offensive little girl at the front desk and the lack of backbone the management showed in dealing with disruptions. Really a shame - beautiful place with a great location.

The best 3 day weekend I have ever had!
By Jennifer, 09/13/09
Location locatiopn location.....Beautiful french doors lead out to the Bourbon st balconey. ..Lots to do and see....Very charming and Romantic! For a small fee you can have room service suprise your special someone with candles and rose pettles strewn across your king size bed. . Have traved all over the world. This was truely memorable. he city itself is both historic and charming yet there is also some decadence and poverty. Bourbon st. is safe but is very festive and often crowded and loud at night.....not a problem for the young and adventurous but you may want to consider another roon away from the st. if you prefere quieter accomadations.

Nice Hotel but...
By Andrew, 09/10/09
I am a repeat visitor at the Royal Sonesta. I visit New Orleans every year for Southern Decadence and this was the forth time staying at the RS. Previous years have been fine however this year I did not have a good experience. My friend and I would get ill after spending 30 minutes or more in our room (I believe it was due to a mold problem) Both of us would get congested and not be able to breath until we would leave the room and then once we returned, same thing would happen. One night I even contemplated sleeping on a lounge chair by the pool except they lock it off after dark. Also, we killed two roaches in our room during our stay. Our key cards kept demagnetizing forcing us to be locked out of our room on several occasions and had to go back down to the front desk to get new ones. The bartenders at the pool blared 70's classic rock the entire time which gets very annoying when you're trying to relax. I think next year I'll be shopping around for a different place to stay.

pet friendly?NO ! $34.72 to park $10.85 internet
By BrianB, 07/08/09
If you take your pets be prepared to walk about 6 blocks to find the first patch of grass for your dogs to relieve themselves. You'll have to walk all the way to the river to find grass. Parking was $31+a $3.72 tax !! And when all other hotels offer free internet I was charged $10.85 a DAY for internet. For the three days I was there I paid $32.55, more than I pay at home for a whole month. But, other than the rediculous fees it was a nice place.

High Priced 1 Star Hotel, but Great location
By Ms Pam, 01/13/09
Great location and that is all that you can say positive about it. First thing that I did was tell them to turn off the moniter system with the HVAC system. As it is a motion activated thermostat. Which means that once you leave the room and there isn't any motion, the thermostat goes back to what ever it is that they program it to. If it is hot outside and you walk around you will come back into a hot room..if you don't have it fixed when you check in. Everyone wants a tip. Parking your car, bringing your luggage up.....And there aren't any luggage racks for you to use on your own. They all have a man attached to them that wants to take it for you. Rooms...oh me...on the small side, no refridgerator, the one that they have is full of over priced drinks, that require a key. So get the key, take their stuff out and put yours in. Water by the TV in your room is $6.50 a bottle. The linen is only changed if you place a card on your bed. Towels are only replaced if they are in the floor. (if they are handing on the shower rack, they assume that you are going to use them again.) They have a card about saving water. The toilet paper ,,,,oh me...you would think that a HIGH PRICED HOTEL would use something besides cardboard. But they don't. It was the pits. So I would advise you to take your own.... You have to pay $9.95 a day for use of the internet. On top of the high priced room fee. If you take your own toilet paper, only take one bag or 2 at the most so that you can take them yourself. You will get away with a lot cheaper priced stay.. You will only have to pay the guys that park your vehicle and pick it up for you. The parking garage is 38.00 a day. plus tips. Oh and the rooms with the balcony are 100.00 higher than the other ones. Beware of the street rooms as they are so noisy. Set the AC and Heat when you check in. Get the key for the refridgerator and take their stuff out of it and put your water and soft drinks in it. And you should be about ready. Then if you ask me if I would go back there then the answer is NO. I would rather stay at Sherton or somewhere else. That is not cramped.

WOW
By RockNRolla, 10/27/08
Royal name but not so Royal Rooms Average room, nice tv, bath tub to shallow, toliet paper roll was broken fell everytime you touched, iron barely worked, no line to check in or out just a mess of people hoping they are next. Located in the heart of the adult entertainment discrict, unsuitable for children, nothing special just another overpriced hotel.

Great to stay in
By Blue Dolphin, 10/22/08
The staff is very helpful especially the concierge even when they are very busy they would give you their full attention. The bed & pillow are extremely comfortable. A lot of attractions are within a walking distance. Be careful when you book to have your room not on bourbon street; otherwise you will stay awake most of the night.

Mardi Gras
By Ricky T., 04/29/08
I thought that this place may have been a bit loud during Mardi Gras, but it was the perfect location! We were even able to rent one of the balcony rooms for Friday and Saturday night! Great location!
