full of mildew and dirty

I will never stay here again! When my family and i walked into our room we immediately smelled mildew. My 6-year old put his shirt over his nose and wouldn't breath without his nose covered. We saw water stains and a black hole in the ceiling over the curtain rod. The bathroom was worse. on ceiling was a huge circle of mildew. We moved next door but every time we went into the bathroom area you had to hold your breath because it smelled like mildew too. We had to stay because had no where else to go at time. Every day we had to go to main desk for more towels/wash clothes because they never left us enough (there were only 4 of us), and our room was not cleaned each day we came back. It's like they just didn't care. What's worse, the room with all the mildew was rented right after we switched rooms to a family with small children and a baby. I hope they didn't get sick. My family was very disappointed with the way this hotel was run. We will NEVER go back!!

excellent value, clean, with friendly staff

Somewhat older complex but tidy on outside and very clean inside room and lobby. Included all basic amenities such as fridge, micro, single serve coffee maker, alarm clock, iron and board, and hair dryer. Even had a game controller hooked up for the kids. Nothing fancy but I was impressed with comfort of bed and overall cleanliness for this average motel. I was traveling across country and didn't require anything fancy. Night check-in and ALL staff next day were extremely helpful in gaining local information when car battery had died next morning. A reduced rate was offerred if I had to stay longer due for car repair.

Not a great place

La Quinta Inn in Sulphur, LA. This is not a well kept hotel by any means. If you need a quick place to stay for the night, it will do, but that is about it. The hair dryer cord had not been cleaned, in I don't know when, it had mud, chocolate or blood on it, I don't know which. The smoke alarm was broken, hanging out of the wall and not working. The door didn't seal completely and so there were bugs around the door both inside and out, most were dead which is a plus, but not too pleasing to see. The shower switch was very hard to work, it took about 5 pulls on it, to get the shower going. The folks that worked here were nice enough but didn't go out of their way to make customers comfortable. The cleaning really does need to be stepped up, it is well below average. The continental breakfast was okay, no fruit was provided. They had the standard make your own waffles, and very few breads, they had no muffins either. It worked for a night while driving across country but not something we would do again.

Would Look Elsewhere!

First of all..this place is not exactly the cleanest hotel i've ever been in. Although we hardly spent much time in the hotel because we were in the casino's in Lake Charles, I would not go back. When we woke up in the morning and got started with a normal daily routine..there were NO Towels, NO Soap or toiletries, and NO Coffee. I tried to contact the front desk several times, but no response. Needless to say...that didn't start my morning off too well. When we checked out later that morning, I advised the manager on duty of the problem and she basically said "sorry" and took down a complaint and then sent us on our way. WOW!! They really blew me away with that great customer service. Yesterday I received a voucher in the mail for a whole $5 off our next visit or a free room upgrade? Sorry, but that is not enough to earn my business again. BTW..Does La Quinta even have an upgraded room? Are they going to put me in Non-Smoking instead of Smoking? Anyways, I won't be back and would look elsewhere next time.
