WILL NOT STAY AGAIN!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/24/12
toilet was dirty, I mean i had can to clean with lysol before using, batrhoom ventalition did not work, did not get non-smoking room as requested, had to call front desk for linens and was told I had to come down 3 floors to get them at 12 midnight, expected shuttle service to and from ferry but manager refused after 10pm, knowing there were numerous lodgers expected to attend the national chapionship game and would be arriving from New Orleans on the ferry -EVEN THE FERRY MADE AN ADDITIONAL TRIP TO ACCOMMODATE THE GAME GOERS - there were numerous people expecting service after the national championship game that needless to say, brought volumns of money into the town, including Gretna. We were going to overlook all the above until the manager refused to talk to anyone about the shuttle service after the game. We were stranded until a taxi service finally came about 45 minutes later. She (the hotel manager) would not answer the phone! THE ONLY GOOD NOTE, there was a very nice staff member that did escort us to the ferry. He went out of his way using his own personal vehicle to accommodate us. He should be working at another hotel where his services and kindness go over and beyond his duties and where he would be appreciated and compensated. We had made up our mind not to complain about the room and service until the incident with the after-game shuttle. I believe if the hotel had offered additionl shuttle service for this event, even if there was a fee involved, it would have compensated for the unclean rooms and unprofessional attitudes of the staff.

WORST STAY I'VE EVER HAD !!!!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/1/11
Checked in to find dirty man's shirt. Asked to check to make sure room was cleaned. Never heard from desk. Pulled back covers to go to bed and FOUND BLOOD STAINS ON MY SHEETS!!!!! Asked front dest to change linens and they couldn't - didn't have the manpower. Told them I would come get the sheets and do it myself. Couldn't do that either because he couldn't leave his post to get me any. Slept on TOP OF MY COVERS. Have yet to hear back on my complaints - ALMOST 2 WEEKS LATER. Evidently, they don't care. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS MOTEL TO ANYONE!!!! Also, awoke to a loud drunk on his cell phone outside my window at 1:30 am that I had to run off. This stay was ridiculous.

More than I expected
By Mita, 7/8/09
I recently stayed at this hotel during the Essence Festival of 2009.. (July 2 thru 5). This was not my first choice, but due to the late reservations, it was the closest hotel to the French Quarters that wasn't booked or a fortune. When I came to the hotel, the rooms were on the outside which I hate!!!! But, once I got into my room, it was very roomy and very clean. The staff was really friendly. They have a shuttle bus that runs every 15-20 minutes and takes you back and forth to the ferry so that you can get to the French Quarters.. No cost for neither.. It was perfect!!!!! The breakfast was absolutely wonderful.. Hot bacon, sausage, french toast, eggs, grits, biscuits and gravy.. It was fantastic.. They also have a restaurant that stays open until 11:00 PM. It serves alcohol and has specials every night.. I thought that this was going to be a rough and horrible hotel.. But, to my surprise - it was fantastic!!!!! I am very glad that I lucked up on this place.. I plan on visiting and staying at the Clarion inn.. The shuttle bus, free parking, friendly staff, cleanliness, breakfast and club/restaurant was wonderful!!!!!!

It was great
By ConnieD, 6/19/08
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Westbank and really enjoyed our stay. We saved gas! The hotel has a free shuttle to the ferry and that puts you right in down town. We also had free parking! That saved a bunch. They had a breakfast buffet every day and the kids ate free. The pool was beautiful and large and really refreshing after a long day in the quarter. Also, it was quiet at night. Downtown was just to noisy in the evening.Anyway, I just wanted to let all know that we loved it and will go back again. The people were all so nice.

Positive experience
By lillie, 6/26/06
The front desk clerk was very prompt and efficient. The room was spotless. The breakfast doughnuts and orange juice were fresh. The bed pillows were unusually comfortable. Everyone was friendly.

I was disappointed
By Gloria, 8/1/05
The bed linen were not completely placed on the bed; the pillows were flat as pancakes, the drapes were not fitted to the window, therefore, you had a gap where people could walk by your room and peer into the room. Lastly, I had to call for towels because the room did not have any towels. I will try to find a better hotel for my next visit.

What hotel?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/11/05
I think they would not go broke if they supplied more than 1/2 teaspoon of sugar to go with the coffee pot. No data port available. No laundry bag. No BATHTUB ??? Few electrical outlets available, and most were filled. Noisy location, needs more sound proofing. But after all these improvements it wouldn't be the cheapest room in the New Orleans area now would it?
