OMG Gross
I know the Super 8 chain is not Club Med, but this place was beyond gross and I will never stay there again. It was Thanksgiving week so there was no chance of getting another room. I spent as little time there as possible. The hotel has apparently recently converted some of the rooms from smoking to non-smoking. Even though there was a "No Smoking" sign on the entry door and the room had been relatively recently painted, the room stunk. It seemed to be some sort of exterminator chemical smell, not smoke or mildew. Whatever it was, I got an instant headache and stopped up nose every time I came in. I could tell that this was a smoking room because the matress reaked like a stale ashtray the moment that I pulled the blanket back. It was beyond the smell of smoke as if someone had sneaked a cigarette or two. I had to sleep on top of all the bed linens and use a blanket that I brought with me. The duvet thing also smelled - not sure of what but my dog was particulary interested in the smell of it and tired to pee on it several times. He has NEVER tried to pee indoors like that. Between the matress and duvet, the "fresh" linens were not very fresh. There was also a recliner in 1980's style fabric that looked like it was a dumpster find. There were noticible dark stains where the head, hands, and feet would rest and it stunk too. Decided not to sit in it ever. The drape was dusty, did not match the decor and had white stains on it. The room was ground level and the sliding window did not have a lock on it. There were two pieces of broken dry-rotted dowel rod to use to keep it from sliding open (as if!). The bathroom and carpet were surprisingly clean, although the bathroom floor tile rocked back and forthwe when walked upon. The continental breakfast included mediocre coffee and store bought hokey pucks, I mean pastries. The only good points were location and they allowed pets ($10 per night). It was cheap but you get what you pay for.
