Nice but could be alittle better!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/15/09
It was a nice location. We had two rooms; one had a hole the size of a baseball in the wall by the bathroom, and when we arrived there was toilet paper on the floor in the bathroom as well. Both rooms needed to be dusted. I think the manager needs to check over the rooms after they are cleaned. The Staff at the front desk was nice and helpful. I do not believe that I would choose this hotel again!!!!

Holiday Inn
By Rogues Rebel, 06/06/07
Although the location is not the greatest, this hotel is certainly one of my favorite places to stay at in Louisville. The staff are very courteous and the rooms are always clean. It's usually the simple things that make my stay a pleasant one and for this hotel, I enjoy the thick comforters on the bed.

Recommend those visiting Churchill Downs
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/08/06
The location had a plus/minus side. The pluses are many, easy to get to off Waterson Expressway, close to Churchill Downs with a shuttle to the track, easy to negotiate traffic. The hotel is located in the neighborhood that surround the track-venture too far and you will be surrounded by strip bars and xxx rated establishments. It is an older area of Louisville so don't expect the better restaurants. However, we had several meals at the hotel and they were all very good. Breakfast bar was hot with eggs, bacon, biscuits, sausage, fresh fruit, juice, and cereal. Children's menu was excellent as we have a very picky 9 year old eater. The staff is very helpful and knowledgable of the area. They will direct you where to walk and drive and where not. Our room was fine with a king sized bed and a pull out sleeping sofa for our daughter. The pool area was very nice and maintained. Housekeeping never brought us a blanket for our daughter, but did manage to leave our door open all day while we were gone. We attended the Breeders Cup World Championships and the hotel was full of trainers and their staff. This is a good place to stay if you want to be close the horses.

Professional traveler
By Cliff C, 09/29/05
I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Southwest at 4110 Dixie Highway in Louisville Kentucky. My wife and I would like to thank the staff there for a very pleasant experience. We would particularly like to thank the housekeeping staff. They made our stay there extremely pleasant. They were very thoughtful. They always smiled and seemed genuinely concerned. They made us feel welcome and warmed the heart of two tired professional travelers. Having served in managerial positio ns and college-level teaching positions over the years, I have had the privilege of training employees. I noticed a hard-working attitude. They always performed their tasks well, efficiently, and speedily. Before entering each room they treated those rooms as people's homes. They knocked, waited patiently for an answer, and then ask if she could enter and help. They had a unique sense of how to balance spending just enough time with the guest and in being able to get on with the responsibilities that were required of them as employees. We would also like to thank the management for the free high-speed Internet access. It made our job as professionals much easier and it will cause me in the future to consider this hotel as the place we will pick to stay. Thank you for the improvements to the lobby and carpeting that I have noticed. Lastly, I am a handicapped individual. This is by no means a criticism, just a recommendation. In our room (#333), there are no nonskid pads of any sort on the bathtub. A few of these inexpensive and easily applied items would have made it much easier to stand in the shower. Thank you for a delightful and hopefully repeated guest experience.

So glad we chose this Holiday Inn!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/25/05
Our room was spacious and the kingsize bed was comfortable. Shower was perfect for my tall husband. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Easy access to the Interstate. We were well pleased and will highly recommend this Holiday Inn to friends traveling to Louisville for the NQC. The Berrys from Mississippi

Nice, but pricey!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/09/05
The hotel was beautifully decorated, and was packed with amenities. There was nothing to do in the local area though. I think the nightly rate is a little high considering the location. Overall though, I was satisfied with my stay.
