Cumberland Falls State Resort, Corbin

We stayed at the lodge and it was very dirty. The white shower curtain was trimmed with black mold and mildew, and the air conditioner smelled musty. It was not Healthy. My children got sick whenever we returned to the room. The carpet was filthy, the furniture was dusty. I looked under the bed; there was lint-covered candy, old food crumbs, even a dirty spoon.

My family visited Cumberland Falls for the first weekend of Spring Break. We stayed in the lodge. We got a 50% discount on lodging due to the fact that I work for the school system. (We could have gotten the same deal because my husband is retired military). So, our room was $44 a night! This rate is only good at certain times of the year, but it is worth asking about. We ate in the Riverview Restaurant. Food was good. Supper was a little pricey, but worth it to not have to drive back in to town. Breakfast buffet was delicious and a good price. Get a window seat! They have bird feeders hanging along the window, and you can watch birds, squirrels, and chipmunks scurrying around. Our room was very clean and suitable. Not fancy, but I didn't expect that. The lodge was wonderful, staff were pleasant and helpful. We hiked Trail 6 to the falls and enjoyed it. Several stairs if that matters to you though. I also hiked trail 4, and it was very easy except for the stair climb at the end. The entire park was pleasant and clean. We plan to go back again!

We are working on the 4th generation of our family making Cumberland Falls an annual event. We used to camp every year, but now stay in the cottages and at the lodge. We have never been disappointed! Sure things age, but thats part of its appeal... (history!) We love to hike the many trails, go horse back riding, fishing and of course seeing the falls is a must. Dinner in the lodge with a raccoon show just outside the window is a treat and then of course there is the square dancing at the pavilion (which might sound corny- if you will), but its a blast! Get their early and they give lessons! I have a lot of very fond memories of the place from when I was a very young child, and want to share the same experiences with my own children. Like I said earlier... My grandmother, my mother, myself and now my children will cherish this great place. Don't pass on this one.... You won't be disappointed! Oh yes, one negative.... very poor to no cell phone reception. Though to some this could be a good thing!

I stayed here recently with my family. When we arrived someone had left a bottle of a fruit drink on the table, yuck! The furniture left a lot to be desired, very uncomfortable. The fireplace smell in the place was horrible, and for all the world it smelled of gas, the kind you pass. The fridge didn't have an ice maker, it contained 1 ice tray and it leaked. What I did like about the place, it was close to the falls.They are very beautiful. So overall if we go there again, we won't stay in the cottage's. I will try the lodge.

I recently stayed with family at the Cumberland Falls State Resort Park. We stayed in one of the cottages in the park. The cottage had a bit of an aged appearance, but was mostly clean. The only thing out of the way was that someone had failed to clean dried/melted soap out of the soapdish in one of the bathrooms. The beds were comfortable but one of the bedrooms had a smell in it for the duration of our stay as if someone had been passing gas in it. The setting and scenery are very nice around the area and it is less than a mile from the beautiful falls. Overall, a decent stay.

i really liked the location and the surroundings. the rooms were excellent very roomy, the beds were comfortable the three times that i have stayed there. would recommend this place to everyone.

My husband have spent 8 Anniversary trips in the romantic rustic cabin.If you need to run to the woods,this is a good place to land. Good food, beautifull grounds, and lots of hiking trails.You caint beat the price. Only thing is you need to call ahead. Cabins usually stay full.

The cottage was very pretty on the outside, with a beautiful rock porch. It was clean, but smelled of cigarette smoke. The couch was really old and worn. The curtains were old and ugly. The bedspread was old and ugly. Some of the unpaneled walls really needed painting desperately. The carpet was nice and the floors were nice. The bathroom was very clean. The kitchen was very clean. Bring your own bathroom tissue because we didn't even have that. We went to Corbin the first night and went grocery shopping because we cooked while we were there. They brought us lots of towels and garbage bags. It was really quiet and secluded. All in all, I don't think we will ever go back. It was overpriced and undeserving of what we spent.

I've been here many times before and will come back many times to come! I went camping as a kid, and saw the falls and beautiful Laurel Lake. I've stayed in the lodge with my husband on our third anniversary,very romantic to see the falls at night! I've stayed in the cabins with my sisters and sisters-in-law on a four-day trip, I even took my invalid sister who had ALS to see the moonbow one last time before she left us. Now, I'm going camping and staying in the lodge with my husband and children this July. It goes without saying that the lodge is beautiful, the raccoons are a hoot, the cabins are well equipped and the falls are awe-inspiring. But what you might not know, is there's a trail for Eagle Falls on the opposite side of the falls that gives you a wonderful view that not many people see and you get to see Eagle Falls also, pouring, cascading into the gorge slightly downstream. It is so neat and you feel so hidden, but it's only a short hike of 5-10 minutes! If you have small children you will have to keep an eye on them, and the last section of trail has chains for handholds, but it sounds harder than it is. It's well worth it! Also, if you have the time, I suggest going to Stearns and taking the train ride to the Big South Fork coal mine. It's fairly cheap and really interesting, plus it has a really good gift shop from cheap kid stuff to pretty nice things. All in all, a very good place to go any time of the year!

I lived in Corbin for 20 years, and as a kid, my parents took me there all the time. We would wait at night just to watch the moon bow. I never knew how big a deal it was until I moved away and came back and really saw all the tourist asking tons of questions, to my suprise I knew the answer. I went on a rafting trip with my parents and my son last summer, my tour guide was Thomas. Best ever! It was the most fun I had ever had. We were so close to being under the falls, then got bounced out of our boat a couple of times. It was amazing! Just what I needed. I have lived in three other states in the past five years, and I always tell people where I'm from. I have even known for some to take a trip to my little hometown of Corbin. Love all you guys at the outfitters!! YOU ROCK!!!!
