Clean, stylish and comfortable

We were looking for an afordable, comfortable place to spend the night while attending an event in Kansas City. My daughter loves to unwind in a pool while in a hotel, but this was not a necessity. Reading other reviews of this hotel made me weary, but I booked anyway figuring we only needed a place to sleep.
I was very pleasantly surprised. The room was stylish, beds were clean, cozy and comfortable, entire room was very clean and bathroom was beautiful and in good shape. Shower massage shower head and Bath & Body Works lotion, etc. made us feel pampered. The pool was outdoor and not very large or fancy (no diving board, etc.), but it was very clean, poolside towels provided and a good temperature (not freezing cold like it could be in KC in early June) for kids to unwind.
My daughter had a burger from the restaurant that was fabulous (thick, juicy and tasted flame grilled) - and I felt the price was very fair. I got carry out from JackStack BBQ just down the road that is very popular, award winning in KC and while it was very good, I'm not sure it was any better than the food at the hotel.
I know there were people staying in the room next to us because I saw someone entering / exiting, but we never heard a sound through the wall. Our room was very quiet.
Now that read the other reviews of this hotel again, I realize that most of the things people complained about regarding this hotel had to do with other guests' rudeness. I think it is unfair and unfortunate to ding the hotel for those kinds of things as they have no control over such things.
I got more than I expected for the money. However, do be advised that there is no free breakfast at this hotel (continental or otherwise). There is a breakfast buffet for a heafty price ($7.99 I think), but we declined. This is a very nice part of town and just off the highway.
If you're looking for a resort, this isn't it, but if you need a place to spend the night, it's a very comfortable, stylish, clean hotel with nice amenities for a rate I would associate with a much lower class hotel (something with "Super" or "Micro" in the name).
