Very Appreciate!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/25/09
I LOVE Village West!!!! There are so many things to do. The beach is VERY comforting, the pool is amazing, the food is Great, and the staff are very helpful, understanding, hard workers, and very considerate. It is also very clean and I appreciate everything that goes on at Village West. I didn't have one problem, not one. When I asked the staff on directions how to get somewhere, they were VERY polite and helpful. Once again, I APPRECIATE everything that goes on at Village West. Keep doing what you do!

LOVE VILLAGE WEST
By Kate, 01/14/09
my family and I have gone to village west almost every summer for years and every year we make plans to go back. I love that there is always something to do and places to visit. Some of you who had a bad time seem to me to be overly crybabyish and should try to understand that when you wait until check out to cry what do you expect. Also maybe you should understand that YOU may not have been so nice when talking to the help and in my job if you come at me with rude words and attitude I am not going to help you out much either. Try a smile it gets you more than a rude word or anger. If you get a chance to stay here admire the beauty and try to unwind. I always have. Village West Keep up the good work we love your workers and rooms.

This place is a complete joke!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/05/08
This place is just pitiful. Rooms stink like a infested dead cow. Beds are like sleeping on rocks. And costomer service is about the worst I've ever experianced. So, if you like that sort-of-thing....then I recomend staying there:

Employee Conduct
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/13/08
The older blond lady @ the front desk needs a lesson in professionalism. She is rude, and has no people skills. She don't seem to know how to handle alot of things. She also needs to watch her language and be careful what she tells other employees when there are guests around. Like how she pays someone to clock her out when she leaves early. Also I think if the law does not allow smoking inside the employees should at least have the courtesy to smoke where guests don't have to see or smell it. She sits right outside the front door (sometimes on a big rock) and smokes her cigarettes. Looks bad & smells worse. Maybe she should be employeed at the other end of the building.

Stay away from this place!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/09/08
No need to bother with this pitiful place. Unbelievable rudness! I will never stay there again. Dirty, dingy place. No need to go into detail....just read the other posts. Don't try to tell the owner because they could care a less. What a shame!

This is a must not do!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/04/08
Just when you think you've seen it all. If there was one word to some up village west resort, this would be it: IGNORANT! This astablishment couldn't be more ingnorant. Charged us for two night's when we only stayed one. Then to top it off, we got up to find we had no hot water. When we called the front desk to inform them, there reply was, will see what we can do. They could care a less about good customer service....in fact, it seems that they go out of there way to be complet IMBECILES. UNBELIEVABLE!!! DO NOT STAY THERE YOU WILL REGRET IT.

Bad check-in and check-out hours
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/28/07
I have enjoyed this resort for many years, but, recently been dissatisfied with the newer management/owners policies. In the last 5-8 years, their check-in time has been push further into the day(2-4pm). Their check-out time has been pushed earlier to 10am (used to be 12 noon). That is only 18 hours a day stay. I remember the time when you could check in early in the morning (if the room was available). Time has changed things at this resort. Prices have gone up and the hours you stay has gone down. The new managers/owners are taking the "fun" out of this resort by being so rigid. I am now looking for alternative places in Okoboji.

AWESOME PLACE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/22/07
I find a lot of these reviews to be false. I have stayed at Village West REsort numerous times and it is a wonderful place to stay!!! SO many activities to do, rooms are great, beach, pools, so many more things to do as compared to a normal hotel. I read thru a lot of the reviews and found some of the comments to be ridiculous!!! What a bunch of complainers and liars. MY kids love this place and we will continue to come back year after year. GO VILLAGE WEST!!!!

Book Your Wedding Here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/18/07
My husband and I got married here in November 2006. We could not be happier with the service, food, hospitality and staff at Village West. Linda Lou did a fabulous job of organizing our event. We had over 350 guests at our wedding reception and the evening was flawless. We had several very positive compliments on the food and the atmosphere. It truly was a perfect wedding!!

Not so bad
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/05/07
This place has been up and down through the years. We first went to village west in about 1996 and the staff were absolutely awesome with the kids and the resort was well maintained. There have been some down years where the kids activities would be cancelled very often and the resort seemed to be falling apart. The last four years or so the resort seems to be on an upswing with the restaurants open more, the staff becoming friendlier again and the resort cleaner and in fair repair. The best feature of this place is the beach. But the indoor pool and rec area are fun for the kids too. They have two mini golf courses, one inside and one out that are free if you have your own ball. There are also 2 free ping pong tables available. The pool table, air hockey table and arcade games all cost money though. Oh, and they have a free little movie theater showing movies that have been released on video. Of course there is the Arnold's Park Amusement park and often bands playing in the park for area entertainment in the Summer. We like it, even with its sometime flaws.
