Dishonest Employees
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/24/12
The room me and my girlfriend stayed at was nice enough and met our goal of being close to Sundown Mountain, even though it was a pain in the butt to get to the hotel during snowy conditions. However, I had a package delivered there in order to be a gift for my girlfriend, but, when the package was delivered, the employees said there was nothing at the front desk and nothing had been delivered. But, when I asked the company who shipped it, they confirmed it had been delivered and signed for by an R. Davis... the same person who told me it had not arrived! Very terrible service and it really pisses me off that, after paying over $130 for a two night stay, they would lie to my face and not deliver a gift I spent over $100 for. It is an insult and a show of bad business etiquette. I will never return.

Good value for the money
By ACCIDENTAL TOURIST, 10/11/10
We arrived without a reservation and on a Friday night too. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room itself is very no frills but clean and the beds slept ok. Breakfast was very good.

bad hotel
By Jet, 6/14/10
I would just like to say that I am not one to write a review of any hotel unless it is an extreme: extremely horrible or extremely wonderful. In this case, Days Inn was extremely horrible. I traveled with my boyfriend and his parents. We had two separate rooms several doors away from each other. Our room was a non-smoking room which surprisingly reeked of stale smoke. The room made me feel gross. I wore my flip flops everywhere in fear of touching the carpeting with my bare feet. The shower head was positioned for people under the height of 5'2". I am 5'9" and had to squat down to wash my hair. After being at the hotel for an hour, we went to my boyfriend's parent's room. As soon as they opened the door, my boyfriend and I immediately detected a smell of natural gas. We called the front desk and were told that they regularly receive that complaint due to a gas station across the highway. I thought it was strange that they would say that considering the smell was localized in their room only and not outside or in our room several door away. They returned later that night and woke up the next morning with headaches. When we went to their room, we again noticed the odor of natural gas as soon as they opened the door. We called to speak to a manager. The manager in turn sent the head cleaning lady, apparently an expert in the smell of natural gas, to check on the situation. The manager eventually came to the room to check on the smell. He said that he could not smell anything. The main problem with the room was that when the door was shut for periods of time, the smell of natural gas accumulated in the room. After the door had been open for several minutes, the smell dissipated. This was explained to the manager who was incredibly rude and close-minded. As someone who works in customer service, I could not believe the rudeness I encountered. I will never stay in this hotel again.

By chyna, 8/6/09
This was my second stay here in Days Inn, My husband and I do little weekend trips to the casino and this time I was very disapointed. I payed for my stay with cash put my credit card on file for insidentals and they took the money off that as well and i've been calling 4 days for my money or an understanding and they have yet to rectify the situation. It's very disapointing

Poor Customer Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/17/09
The hotel was ok for the price. Our non-smoking room smelled very smoky, and we were immediately given a new room on request, which was better. Didn't care for the spider in the shower. The continental breakfast was pretty good as well. The outdoor patio/bar was unexpected and nice. However, my 6-year-old son cut his foot on something sharp in the Days Inn pool, which then required stitches. I understand that accidents happen, but it was how we were treated that was the most upsetting. We were treated well by the hotel staff during this event, however were treated quite unfairly and rudely by the hotel owner. Because the staff could not find the sharp object, we were treated as if it were our fault and only a feeble 'we're sorry' was given, even though it caused us to drastically alter our vacation plans due to the stitches and difficulty my son had walking.

Never again!
By Joshua, 10/26/08
I stayed here with my family of 4. There was partying going on until 2:30am keeping my children up all night. We stayed on the second floor and could hear eveything going on on the first floor and outside. Very drafty through the door. It seemed like every door to other rooms that were opened had to be slammed shut. poor maintainance. There were people screaming outside and peeling out in there cars all night. If you stay on the side of the hotel that is next to route 20, better bring ear plugs. It sounds like the cars are going to drive through the room and forget about the Trucks "J-braking" down the hill. It needs to be better insulated. We ended up packing up the family at 3:30am and heading out because we could not take anymore.

Will go back
My mom and two nieces stay here for a girls get away for a couple of days. It was great. The staff was wonderful with helping with directions to get around and suggesting places to dine. The pool was a little cold but I'm planning another trip to Dubuque this fall, with my husband and we will stay here. The owner and manager are always working on improvements and they welcome all feedback.

Like living in an ash tray
By aunt, 4/14/08
We checked in to three rooms which were all supposed to be non-smoking - Needless to say that was not the case. One of the rooms smelled of wet dog while the other two rooms smelled so badly of stale cigarette smoke you could get the oder outside the room before even putting the key to the lock (not good when all of the rooms have exterior entrances. We called down to a very rude front desk clerk who said that they could split the three rooms up and put us in 3 separate buildings on the highway side of the motel. After a 9 hour drive and with 8 more hours to go the next morning, we checked out and found other wonderful rooms at the Best Western. Days Inn was a waste of time and money. DO NOT bother staying or booking here.
