HOT HOT HOT and WON'T BE BACK
By Tim W, 04/18/09
This is the most rediculous stay I have EVER HAD.... I am a motel owner in another state and could not beleive that they had NO AIRCONDITIONING until later in the year. IT IS 80 DEGREES in our room and they brought me the dirtiest fan I have see in a long time as the solution. WE WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!!!!!!

OK room, good location, bad food
By Gary, 10/20/08
Basic older Holiday Inn, rooms had new furniture but bathrooms are VERY DATED and haven't been renovated since 1970's. Resturant is bad even for Holiday Inn, breakfast buffet was weak but OK, 7 of us had dinner and three were almost inedible, 3 had OK salad bar and kids meal was fair. OK location for downtown activities, close to Arena but long walk from downtown center and ballpark, Mercy Hospital across the street so be prepared for ambulance sirens off & on all night, four Medivac helicopter landings the Saturday night we were there too, Marriott, Embassy, Radisson would be better downtown choices.

Great Place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/22/08
The location was great within walking distance of the Wells fargo Arena, Easy to get to. The shuttle was willling to take me anywhere in the downtown area. The view of the city was breath taking. The restaurant had a good breakfast buffet, the bar was very inviting. Overall top notch service. I will return.

My Opinion
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/17/06
I thought this hotel was a bit dirty. There was mold in the corner of the bathtub as well as on the ceiling tiles. The mirrors on the wall were outdated and not a welcome article of decor in my opinion. Overall I would rate this a 2.5 on the list of hotels I have stayed in during my many travels.

Great place to stay in downtown Des Moines
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/09/06
I have stayed at this hotel many times and have not had any bad expieriences. The Holiday Inn is easy to find from the interstate, and it's very close to downtown without the need to navigate the confusing one-ways or try to park there. The staff has always helped with directions and dining recommendations, and I love the lounge! It's a friendly, quiet, place to have a drink and conversation with friends. The rooms are nicely furnished and the bathrooms have new fixtures and showerheads. Overall, it's a nice place to spent the night in Des Moines

Excellent hotel close to downtown
By Bradley, 11/17/05
Stayed there this summer (July 2005). Very clean rooms, clean hotel, nice bar on main floor, friendly staff all around. Would recommend this hotel to any of my friends and family. Didn't notice the interstate nearby that runs thru downtown Des Moines

Great Stay - Excellent Staff
By Commish, 11/16/05
This is the place to stay in downtown Des Moines. We have stayed at the Holiday Inn Downtown three times this year and each time the staff has been great. Rooms have been updated and are very clean and comfortable. We love the location as it is so easy to get there just off the freeway. We use their shuttle service to go all over downtown-it's so nice to get dropped off and not have to park. We recently attended a concert at Wells Fargo Arena and the hotel was the perfect place stay. We used the shuttle to get there and when we came back we had a blast in their bar. The breakfast buffet in the morning was excellent and they were ready to handle our large group. We will stay there again.

not a good experience this time.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/28/05
the elvators were slow plus busy with state wrestlers and parents. Too many kids going from floor to floor when they could of use the stairway. Seen several underage drinkers in the elevator too. The room was hot and it would not work putting it on cold so had to open the window that had NO screen. Then it was too noisy from the outside interstate traffice. Plus being so close to the hospitals you could hear sirens all the time. I figure for 110.00 I expected more. nothing but a pool. no place to work our or sauna. I was just very disappointed for a holiday inn. I have stayed at them before so I know what to expect from them. NO nothing for a breakfast. I know we will not stay there again next year for state wrestling. Did a lot of good to have the security guards up and down the halls. The kids were still drinking even inside the elevators.
