Needs to work on their customer service skills
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/18/09
I called to make reservations for one of our sales reps that would be attending an event at the Convention Center. I had to repeat everything once and sometimes twice as the person taking the reservation seemed to be preoccupied and did not seem to be listening to me. I asked that the confirmation be emailed to me and did not receive (waited 3 days). Placed a follow up call to the hotel reservations - was greeted by an operator that was laughing and carrying on another conversation - I asked again to have the confirmation emailed to me and she was so rushed that she did not even take my email address to send. Third call, got a nice girl who would "try to get it to me".....not sure what that means, will wait and see if it gets to me.

Very disappointed!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/23/09
The hotel is located downtown which was nice but since we travel there atleast once every year, we will definitely plan on staying somewhere else even though the people working there were very polite. We had reserved an executive suite for a reduced price. When we arrived we noticed the Executive Suites were gated off from the rest of the hotel yet our room was located in the "guest room" area. There were four of us staying in the same room. The double beds we had were more like single or 3/4 beds. While walkring around the hotel, we ran into a housekeeper who showed us their pullman cars. They were not that much smaller than the room we had. I told the housekeeper we were suppose to be staying in the Executive Suites but were disappointed at how small it was. When I told her what our room number was, she said that was just a "regular guest room", not a suite.; yet management insisted our room was a suite. When I asked why our room was not located inside the Executive Suite gated area, the manager gave an explanation that didn't make sense to us. Even at the discounted price, this room was not even comparable to a "standard" room at other hotels. Our room was definitely not worth what we paid for it. We are priority members but we do not plan on ever recommending this hotel to anyone...

Nice, but poor service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/05/09
The setting and restoration of this hotel is very unique and interesting, with the train theme. Our standard room was nice, a little tight and could have used more space for hanging clothes, but otherwise was comfortable. HOWEVER, our entire family was there for a wedding, and most chose to use the valet parking. Some of the groom's immediate family did not get to the church (and family photo sessions) because the hotel could not get their cars out in time. They had allowed more than an hour. When asked for help from the hotel in driving them in their shuttle, they were told no; they could not get a taxi because their young children needed car seats, which were in their cars! Disappointed as they were, we all understand things happen sometimes. But we found there was no accountability or sense of ownership in the problem. After traveling 2 days to get to this wedding, (the reception was being held at the hotel by the way), one would expect at least a little sympathy or sincere apologies. Or even if they had told the familty in time that the cars were stuck in the garage, they could have tried to make alternate arrangements, Instead, they all just watched 6 adults and 3 young children stand around for 1 1/2 hrs. waiting for their cars. (and remember -- you pay $25 a day for the "privilege" of allowing them to bring your car to you - eventually). I would definitely NOT recommend coming on a weekend when anything is booked in the nearby sports facility where the hotel apparently parks the cars! Again - nice place, lousy attitude towards the guests, at least in this case. There is no making up for a missed event like a special family wedding -- but one should at least expect "bending over backwards" apologies for causing such a situation! Instead, they were told to take their issues up with the sports arena! That said, the Grand Ballroom is just awesome!

Great hotel and great atmosphere!
By Blake, 11/10/08
My family and I stayed here this past weekend and everything was great. Our room was on the 1st floor near the pool, which didn't lead to privacy if the curtains were open, but if you're looking for character, this is the place in Indianapolis. There were very cool 'ghost people' statues which lend itself to the historic nature of the hotel. Staff was nice and friendly. Restaurant breakfast was pricey and so is parking (use underground it is a litter less expensive). Clean, quiet, affordable, unique. I plan on going back.

Our family had a great time!
By Rich H, 09/01/08
We payed a little bit extra to stay in a Pullman room. Our kids are 9 and 6 and they LOVED it. The kids loved the swimming pool too. The hotel was friendly and the rooms were very clean. A great place to stay if you're going to be in Indianapolis. We went to the Children's Museum which is only about a 10 minute drive from the hotel. The breakfast at the Pullman restaurant was very good and the service was great! Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Unique, great family atmosphere
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/27/08
Recently stayed at this location, and was pleased with the room and hotel in general. We slept in one of the rail cars, and our kids loved the experience. Hotel staff was very helpful, and the room was tight, but comfortable. The location in downtown was convenient to all the things we wanted to do. The only two drawbacks both had to do with cost. I would suggest to families that they look elsewhere for breakfast options as the $12.95 adult and $7.95 kids costs are out of line for a buffet. Also, the parking costs are at least $20 for self park with valet being $24 (I suggest valet as you can come and go as many times as you please). Overall, this was a good experience that we would go back to again.

Excellent Time
By Jenni E., 03/25/08
My husband and I just got back from staying at Union Station, we were only there for one night to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. We had an excellent time. We got to stay in one of the train cars, it was really cool. This is still an active train station and we were told that we might hear trains passing through and feel the vibrations from them. We did hear and feel them but it really wasn't bad, and it didn't bother us or keep us up all night. The hotel is in walking distance of pretty much everything. The entire hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Check out time was at noon, but we didn't leave until 3 and they let us keep our car there with the valet, which was helpful to us that way we didn't have to drive it around or find somewhere else to park it. We had a great time here and would stay here again.

Great Downtown location, Great Value, Lots of Character!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/30/08
Just got back from a weekend trip to Indy and we stayed at the Crowne Plaza at Union Station. We booked our room on a discount site and got it for $59!!!!, the advertised rate on the Crowne Plaza site for that night was $159. The location can't be beat. 2 blocks from Circle Centre Mall, steps from the RCA Dome (and probably the closest hotel to the new Lucas Oil Stadium) and the convention center. Lots of great dining in the area as well. The hotel is actually housed in the old train shed, which has been beautifully converted. Our guest room was nicely furnished, and the beds were quite comfortable. Because of the former use of the building, the guest rooms do not have windows that look outside, they all overlook the lobby, which is nice. We had a great view of the indoor pool. Overnight parking was reasonable for a major city ($20 at the Pan Am Plaza Garage) I would deff. recommend a stay at this hotel if you are going to be in Indy in the near future.

We stay here every year!
By Wendy, 08/04/07
The staff treats you like you are the only guest. The rooms are very clean. They really go above and beyond to make sure you are satisfied. I won't stay anywhere else in Indianapolis. We stay here every year when we come to GenCon.
