Caution: not recommended
We were told on the phone that our first night would be in the hotel, and at checkout time we would switch to a waterpark room. At 9:30, I asked how that would work. They said we had to check out at 11:00, but the waterpark room may not be ready until 4:00. They would give me a buzzer. When I asked what we were to do with our belongings, I was told we could use their storage room while we played in the waterpark. (What about the possibility of someone stealing the buzzer?) They also said they would use strips to identify our belongings. I would be given non-waterproof tickets to claim our things. Non-waterproof and we were going to go to the waterpark? With a child needing a special diet, I brought her food in coolers. Also we had drinks and snacks in Wal-Mart bags. I couldn't leave these in the van as it was below freezing outside. It was Easter weekend. I had a box with Easter baskets (hidden from my kids). I would have had to keep track of 10+ non-waterproof tickets. With an emotionally challenged child who doesn't like crowds, what would we do with him if/when he decided he'd had enough of the crowd in the waterpark? Stick him in the storage room? After 30 minutes of questions, I walked away irritated. We still hadn't eaten breakfast and I needed to pack up. Breakfast (buffet) for 3 (one was under 14 and free) was almost $40. OJ spilled on the table and wasn't cleaned up. After eating and throwing everything into bags and suitcases so we could check out 11:00, still not knowing what was going to happen to our things, I went back to get the kids their bracelets for the waterpark. Two of the kids went to the waterpark and played in COLD water. The air was cold (I saw people in sweaters and sweats). Mold was near the ceiling and on the floor. The lifeguards were friendly and competent. Around 1:30, I went to see if our room was ready (we're still in the original room waiting), I once again explained the situation and asked to speak with the manager. She never came out, but sent someone to tell me we could stay in our original room but still have access to the waterpark.
For four hours I'm stressing out (on my vacation) about our belongings, only to find that everything would be fine? Now I had to spend time re-organizing our belongings.
The cleaning staff were friendly and helpful. One of them actually said, "They still haven't moved you?!"
I still have breathing problems from the mold even though I didn't spend much time in the waterpark.
Had I known this vacation would have been the disaster it was, I would have saved the money and stayed at home with the A/C on and let the kids play in the backyard with the sprinklers on.
