The Talbott Hotel, Chicago

I travel 4 days out of the week almost every week. As one may expect I have stayed in many accommodations but none has classy and nice as the Talbott. Not only am I saying this as a business traveler but as a former hotel employee as well. The price was right, the rooms are huge, and the staff may be the friendliest group I have experienced.

Many rooms have been refreshed. The lobby has a cozy feel, staff is friendly. Just steps away from big city shopping, dining and entertainment. The only flaw in this hotel in my opinion is the breakfast dining. Take a pass on this and explore other dining options in the nearby area.

We loved the old world charm of this hotel. Everyone was very friendly and the location is excellent for walking around town. We've spent several weekends at The Talbot and thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have recommended it to our friends.

Last week my son & I went on a 2-day getaway before he left for college. The room was very nice; but Stephanie, the concierge, made our stay especially nice by making some great tailored suggestions on places to eat & shop. Stephanie, thanks for making our stay memorable!

This hotel is great! My business partner and I stayed only for a night.We experienced the best service and the rooms were clean. I like the small hotel feel.

All in all the hotel was very nice - except for the fact that after numerous requests to move to another room because of no heat in my particular room - I had to spend 3 nights under blankets!

I discovered this hotel when I was travelling to Chicago on a weekly basis on business, and our regular hotel -- along with what seemed like every other hotel in Chicago -- was sold out. On the website it looked too good to be true, but I made a reservation, and I'll never forget how pleased I was when I arrived! The rooms are beautifully appointed, the staff is polite and professional, and the food is terrific. Being a small, boutique hotel, expect some limitations in the amenities -- a smaller room service menu, no on-site gym -- but it's in a terrific location which allows you to get whatever you need easily. Why pay a fortune for room service when you have outstanding restaurants right outside the door? Why pay for a gym you may not use when you can use a full-service gym a couple blocks away (free to hotel guests, at least when I was there). The neighborhood is wonderful. You can eat at Johnny Rocket's or the Ritz, you're a block and a half from shopping on Michigan Avenue. Just a lovely city neighborhood. In short, the Talbott is an upscale hotel with a moderate price. For me, it was a home away from home -- I ended up staying every week for over a year. I recommend it heartily.

7 of us ( all Irish guys ) stayed in the Talbott for 5 nights in April. Can't recommend it highly enough. Nice spacious rooms, friendly helpful staff and perfect location just 5 mins from Michigan Ave !! Around the corner is the start of the Rush Street bar frenzy !! The one minor downside was the building site next door which had most of us awake early depending on which side of the hotel your room was on. It wasn't a problem for us as we were rising early anyway to get a good run at the day !! Enjoy the Talbott and say hello to them from the Irish boys !!

Received my credit card bill and the hotel charged me for hundreds of dollars in mini bar charges. It has ruined my impressions of this hotel.
