not so good
By beautiful oak, 6/12/10
The fact that I have stayed in worse places probably says more about my desire to not spend much on a rooom than it does any positives about the Mansion View. As far as positives: the price was right and it wasn't real dirty .... the ac and tv both worked .... wifi ... the desk clerk was friendly...that's what fifty bucks buys. What it doesn't buy is a decent mattress or anything much in the room newer than about 1980. I woke up in the middle of the night with a backache and immediately wished I had spent the dough to be at the Drury Inn.

Lousy Lousy Lousy!
By GiGi, 5/28/09
Just stayed here last night. What a FAKE advertisement! The bathtub's drain didn't work properly. There was mold all over the bathtub. Either scalding or freezing cold water in the shower. Nothing in between. Worst of all, there was urine droplets on the toilet seat and mysterious hairs in the water. The train was extremely loud and the staircases felt unsafe and unstable. There was also water all over the staircase. I will NEVER stay here again!

Loved it!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/17/07
My husband and I are from Decatur which is like 35 miles away from Springfield...we planned a little get away for a night and picked mansion view inn and suites..we spent the first 3 hours in springfield at the museum and then went to our room..We were thrilled to have room 448 since it was the last room on the fourth floor and seemed kinda private. It was a non smoking room but no problem because we went out on the deck to smoke. I loved the bed and they had lots of pillows. The staff was really nice..We went to eat next door at the August Restaurant and had a delicious dinner there..I thought the room was very clean...yes there was a train but as midwestern people......so what? I think the thing I loved about the mansion view was the continental breakfast...it was fabulous...I have never seen that much variety on a continental breakfast ever...I called my husband from the front desk to tell him to come down for breakfast because he couldn't miss this one....I think the only thing I would change about the mansion view is that they need to hang pictures on the wall..the lobby is all about lincoln and cultural things but then when you get to the rooms, they are kinda boring..your hotel was very relaxing and a nice getaway for my husband and I...thanks!

What a Great Location!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/24/06
When we stayed at the Mansion View Inn & Suites, they rolled out the red carpet for us! The front desk staff greated us with a warm welcome! They told us about the wonderful breakfest they had to offer, and it was included in our room rate! They showed us a pic. of the soon to be rennovated rooms. They are going to be "Top notch" when it is all down in Spring 2007!! I will definately go back! Way to go Mansion View! Keep up the good work!

Watch out for the stairs
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/19/06
Well we got to check in right away, when we got up to the FIRST ROOM it was ok. On the second day there we were walking down the stairs in the front of the hotel and the 3rd from last stairs as I stepped on it broke in half causing me to fall down FACE FIRST into the concrete. When wanting to talk to the manager/owner of the hotel, I was told that I would have to wait until Monday when she came back in. When threatened with the police being called manager/owner was finially contacted. After waiting 2 hours for her to show up because she wasn't presentable I had to be taken to the Care Station to be checked out which means that we didn't get to do anything that we had planned for our vacation. When asked for our room obviously to be switched they had to clean the new room for us, make the toliet stop from running constantly and then had to fix the light that was constantly blinking on and off. For a AAA accredited hotel they were extremely

Keep the lights on!
By Cynthia, 6/20/06
You know it's bad when you turn on the bathroom light and you see 5 cockroaches scramble for the baseboards. We caught three in a plastic bag and took them to the front desk where the clerk claimed he knew nothing about the bug problem. We left the motel at 1am and they actually tried to charge us for the night's stay! We ended up at the Hilton tower where not only were the rooms awesome, clean and MUCH nicer, but it was $5 CHEAPER! Oh, and no EXTREMELY loud train noises at the Hilton, either.

Yuck!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/2/04
Awful! Loud train, dirty rooms with bugs and stains, crumy elevator. Opened door in room into storage room for hotel employees. The only nice part was the lobby and service.
