Hell No ........ Go across the eway....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/25/11
When I check in for that weekend of fun at Great America, They have lost myreservations then they said I had to call the " 800" number to make new reservations. Whe I called the number and asked to make reservations at there locations they said they were sold out. Well me and the family went over to the Hampton Inn on the other side of the expressway told the front desk manager the problem we were having with Hoilday Inn and he gave us a great room rate (Batter then what the Hoilday Inn could have offered us) and three free passes to Great America. To make a ong story short, just go across the eway and there are six or seven hotels/motels that are alot better then this S#&# Hole.

never again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/8/09
This hotel is a disgrace to the gurnee area, the management misleads guests into a illusion of comfort and peace, but all you get is discomfort. I tried to several months ago to block rooms for my wedding parties, the phone went straight to phone mail, finally recieved a phone call one month later, then they forgot who they were calling. Catering director and front desk personnel were not professional at all. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone, even though they changed their name and not their image. I used to enjoy staying at this hotel in the past. But never again. The food was very very good when I stayed there but that was the only thing.

Wait till next year
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/2/09
The front lobby is deceiving - at first glance this hotel looks classy and well kept. Once you get into the halls you can see the worn carpet, peeling paint and chipped door frames. The web site advertises suites - there are none. The web site advertises in room video gaming - there is none, we were told that if you hooked a system up the the TV the TV would overheat. The room was clean but worn. The heater in the room went on every 15 - 30 seconds and was loud. Game room OK, no ping pong table, just arcade games. Pool was large and the water clear but very heavy chlorine odor. Plenty of towels at the pool. Fitness room OK, all equipment worked. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Restaurant was poorly staffed but the gals in there worked their hearts out. Buffet minimal content and overpriced. We were told by people at the hotel that they are planning a multimillion dollar renovation for 2009 that includes a small indoor water park. We will not go back again unless renovations are made - not worth the visit. We were local and looking for a nice local New Years 2 day break with our middle school kids. No New Years eve activities were offered.

Foul Smells....
By Sonnee, 6/29/08
Oh my starrs..first impressions are lasting impressions, right? Well, one of the front desk clerk must have had a bad day or maybe just do not like her job, as she was very short and not customer friendly at all, to say the least. Next, the foul smell starts as we entered this location and it just got worst. The lobby smells was a mixture of "Mildew & Musk". As we proceeded to our room, so did the smells. Once we entered our room it was ice cold, (I guess that was to concel the smells in the room) I don't know. Anyway, next came the bedspread, I never...never...never sleep or sit on the bedspread, so needless to say, it came off my bed first, but my buddy, she kept hers on just to be awaken by a foul odor...wondering where that foul odor could have came from... well you've guessed it, "the bedspread" she could not get that joker off her quick enough. The box spring of the beds had visible stains.. not sure what they could have been, and really did not want to think about it for too long. Well, to sum this up, this place really just needs a complete work over. It looks old, smells old and feels old :-O I will never stay here again even if it was FREE!!!

Do not stay here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/6/08
My husband and I and our young kids stayed here for one night and will never stay here again. First, the hotel would not honor the discount rate that we booked online even though we met the eligibility requirements and brought ID. They told us we would have to pay $30 more a night and if we didn't want it they would call around to other hotels for us. We asked for a supervisor and she finally honored the rate saying the policy was changed after we booked. This was after a 1/2 hour wait with three tired and hungry kids waiting for the room. Then things did not improve from there. The room was ok but showed its age. Also there were exposed wires everywhere and our infant actually was able to access and pull out the TV plug which was so exposed we couldn't move furniture to cover it up. The indoor pool was freezing and only one of the games in the game room was even turned on. Also, we were surprised there was no free breakfast, even continental. Just a sit down restaurant. I can understand this in an upscale hotel chain but not a Holiday Inn. We stayed in a Comfort Suites the next night for the same price and they had spacious clean rooms and a great breakfast buffet hot and cold (plust a heated pool). This hotel was not worth the money, even the discount rate.

Bring your own pillow
By Kamrine N, 11/6/07
Nice people, but not the best place to stay. The beds are okay but the pillows are awful. The showers are really small and have poor water pressure.

Navy Grads hot spot with amazing service
By rocker girlie, 8/13/07
My famliy and my brother's girlfriend came down to see my brother graduate from the Navy at Great Lakes. when we checked in we were given great service and they asked us if we wanted to also buy the shuttle passes which were only $10.00 there and back and we got one to bring our sailor back with us. they were very helpful with everything. me and Molly the girlfriend decided to order a movie and were a bit confused on how to do it and they came up and helped us. lots of people with sailors were at the same hotel too. lots of them were also in my brother's divison 260. the pool was cool and crisp and clean and so was the hot tub. i wilm most definatly go back there. Also its right across the road from Gurnee Mills Mall very close to Kirspy Kreme doughnuts and lots of other places. Its very nice and the staff is very very very freindly. and if you go there to see a graduation stay there because the and get the shuttle passes because you can go right through the Great lakes gate and not get you or your searched and you get in and get out it great!! GO NAVY!!!
