Good end to a Great vacation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/14/08
On our way back home from a trip down south we stayed at this hotel. The staff as great and the amenties were very helpful with the kids. There is putt putt golf, 2 pools with hot tub, ping pong, air hockey, pool tables, and an arcade. Most of all of them are free. This was able to keep my kids occupied for hours while me and my husband we are to rest in the poolside tables and chairs. We also enjoyed there resturant/ bar right in the hotel. All around a good last stop to our fun week.

What a nice staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/14/08
Was having an awful trip due to airport trouble and was laid over in the Moline international airport. They booked me into the old holiday inn now called the fifth season hotel. The staff was very accommodating to my lack of luggage and provided me with everything from transportation to and from the airport to the essentials like my toothbrush that was of course in my baggage. Was also quite nice that they had 2 pools one was very noisy but i was able to go take a quick dip in the back pool with a bit of needed peace and relaxations. Overall it was a great experience and i would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling through the area.

awful place to stay
By disgusted, 07/06/08
I stayed here from Thursday through Sunday and was in two different rooms. Both rooms were filthy with a dirty tub and two inch thick dust on the vents. We reported this to the front desk on Saturday morning before our room was cleaned and returned that night to find neither had been cleaned. The beds are horrible, back aches every day. There was no food there and was told it would be up and running on Fri. but was still shut down on Sun. They told us we could buy breakfast at the express next store, and went there they said no only employees can buy breakfast. Our air also broke down during the night to wake up at 5 a.m. with a room over 80 degrees. They offered us no apoligy or refund of any kind. The worst part was to find pot in my night stand drawer. Pay the extra 20 bucks and stay anywhere but here.

Terrible place to stay!
By Amy, 06/15/08
Never again will I stay at a place without reading reviews. When we arrived, our room was not ready - so we were upgraded to the "atrium". Not great at all... we could hear everything going on.... as we were right next to the pool. Then our air in the room did not work. It was like a sauna. After trying to get it fixed 3 times, I gave up on it. The maintenance man wasn't helping. We stayed because kids eat free.... well the restaurant was closed due to water and so... NO BREAKFAST AT ALL. They didn't even bring in donuts for their guests. when I asked about a partial refund, was told "sorry, but it was a natural disaster type thing". Dude.... you gotta feed your guests and live up to what you offer.... Forget this place.. stay somewhere else. They are not at all accommodating.

Pictures don't do justice.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/06/08
I was in town for a friends wedding and everything else was booked or else ran over $120 a night. I booked this hotel afraid that it was going to be below my standards but upon check-in I realized that it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The hotel is setup like an oval with the middle being enclosed. The pool looked nice(we did't have time to try it out), there was a mini golf course that consisted entirely of raised tracks, and a small resturant. The single king that I stayed in was nice all around and I would surely book here again simply due to the cheaper rate and quality. CONS:: No free breakfast! Seriously, who doesn't serve continental breakfast these days? You have to eat in the resturant which is a little more than eating at dennys. Also, they make you sign a "Quiet" waver for noise levels after 11.

Never stay there again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/21/08
When we checked in we should have walked back to the car and left... The lobby was so cold that the staff had coats on. There was 4 birthday parties, kids everywhere, we thought that the hot tub would be hot ? it was cold and full of kids, we ran to the sauna which was the warmest place in the hotel. Our room was so cold, we had the heat set to 90 and the warmest we could get was 65. Kids were runing up and down the halls. The restrant was cold so we had to pack up and drive to Denny's to eat. We packed up and went next door to the La Quinta, much cleaner and most of all much warmer. The front desk girls were trying to be nice, but lied to us by telling us that all the hotels were cold due to the cold temps, and would only give us half of our money back.

Exceptional, courteous staff
By maggiemei45, 10/02/07
My mother and I stayed at this hotel awaiting an early morning flight. We had inadvertently booked the Holiday Inn Express next door which we immediately switched over (from bad previous horrendous experience) with no problem whatsoever. The staff was exceptionally courteous and comforting. The transportation staff was as well the most friendly, courteous I've experienced in a while...we tipped well for the service. The hotel was clean, the value was excellent and we will continue to book at Holiday Inn Convention Center in future departures.

Ugh!
By carol, 08/01/07
THis hotel is notorious for bad service!! My daughter attended Modeling classes here 1x a month from Feb. - July and some time we had to stay overnight. Each time there has been a problem. First time we booked a "poolside room" to enjoy the pool and hot tub......but when we checked in we found the pool under construction and CLOSED!! They could have informed us when we made our reservation! Several others who were checking in found the pool closed and went elsewhere!! On our second try.....we couldn't get a poolside room, we got one all the way to the back of the hotel..........way far away and upon using our key to access our room, we walked in on a Q.C. Steamwheeler player getting out of the shower!!! So we trekked all the way back to the front desk only to get another room all the way at the back!!! We did get an early 2:00 p.m. check in and we were allowed a late check out at 1:00 p.m. which was very nice! Oh- and when we went to use the nice pool....it was closed because someone had had an accident in it :( Our last trip this past weekend for our daughters modeling graduation ceremony was ok, but the Sunday morning staff was very unpleasant!!!! The hotel was very busy and book to capacity so when we went to go in the hot tub and relax, we found the pool chained off @ 8:30 p.m. and no access to the hot tub! We asked the front desk what was wrong and they said the pool had been over chlorinated!! How does this happen when it is someones job to take care of this and keep an eye on it?? We were told we could have an extended checkout but Sunday morning someone was wanting to clean our room so we called the front deak and they said "Oh NO, we don't give extended checkouts to anyone but our gold care members." And believe me she wasn't vey NICE about it!!!! So, with this said......I don't not recommend this hotel nor will I stay there again!!!

Great Hotel For The Money!
By Chad, 04/28/07
This hotel was a great bargain. The rooms were nice and clean. It has a very large pool area and a second lap pool and nice fitness center. The customer service was friendly. We didn't try the attached restaraunt so I can't comment on that. Overall I thought this was a great hotel for the money.

Poor Experience.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/17/07
Room was far from front desk in a narrow dingy hallway. First attempt to gain access with the credit card keys did not work. After trecking to and from the front desk with all of our luggage and reactivated keys, we entered the room only to find out that it was not cleaned from the previous guest. Another trip back to the front desk we did not even get a half-hearted attempt at an appology. In fact, the staff acted as though they did not believe us and went to check the room out for themselves. After confirming what we had told them, we were given another room in the same location. This time the keys worked and room was cleaned but those were the only positives. It was small, carpet was so dirty and sticky that after wearing white socks they were black. Also, the thermastat did not work and the walls/doors were so thin that hallway traffic kept us up all night. Barely a one star hotel in my opinion. Stay here as a last resort.
