Shocked and Appalled
By Dan M, 03/02/09
Pictures of my room available at: http://danatomic.blogspot.com/2009/02/holiday-inn-city-center-peoria.html Disgraceful. For the $118.00 a night plus 11.5% tax I am spending during my stay here, the accommodations are shocking. The bathroom seems to have suffered through some sort of serious event. Joint tape on the ceiling in the shower is peeling and hanging loose. The shower head fixture has pulled away from the wall, the seal formed by the caulk broken. Baseboard trim behind the toilet seems to have been hastily applied in hopes of masking some sort of damage. When I sit on the toilet, it shifts precariously. It took twenty-five minutes for the water in the shower to become luke-warm enough to bathe in tolerably, and then suddenly became scalding hot as I was applying my shampoo. Beyond the bathroom, one of the table legs on the desk is broken, enough so that I wouldn't want to put any weight on it. The weather seal around the window in the room is barely intact, and bleeds the cold winter air from outside. When I booked my stay, I was not expecting accommodations of opulence and luxury. I was, however, expecting a well maintained room in which I could comfortably perform my daily ablutions. The price of this stay is by no means a bargain. It is a fee that demands a certain standard which has not been met. I simply can't believe how awful this is for $118.00 a night. I've stayed in better for cheaper in New York, Chicago, and LA.

Very dirty, loud, constuction site...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/31/07
It was dirty, loud, overbooked, much construction going on around the pool which was not even heated, restaurant in lobby ran out of food for breakfast and when it came in shifts, there were no clean dishes to sit and eat....very disappointing for out first trip to Peora.

Disgusting
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/17/07
I was visiting Peoria for a job interview. The company put me up for one day at the Hotel Pere Marquette (nice older hotel, but was full) so I put my wife and two kids in at the Holiday Inn, and got a second room at the Holiday Inn for my mother in law. Both rooms were nasty. Wear black socks, because that's what color they will be after walking on the carpet. I could not imagine a more filthy room. So in closing let me say, I wouldn't stay at this Holiday Inn, even if they paid me to stay there.

Dirty & Poor... Everything!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/16/07
How this hotel chain can allow this embarassment and unprofessionalism to continue is a mystery to me! My daughter was competing for her very first time in a tumbling meet with members from her TwistStars team for the St. Jude Children's Hospital Benefit. Our gym has used this facility for many years since this meet for St. Jude has been held at the Peoria Civic Center for some 24 years. This year our gym booked a block of rooms elsewhere due to the incredible and consistent disappointment this hotel and facility has continuously provided its' guests. They had been sold out for months prior to this event as they have been every year for this Benefit. The hotel was filthy, still under construction in the same rooms as it was last year for our team, understaffed and unprofessional, many of our rooms were not cleaned, beds were not made, requests for non-smoking rooms were NOT honored, coffee pots were used and not cleaned for our stay... The restaurant (Bennigan's)had over a 2-hour delay in delivering room service. The morning of our meet, we arrived at 8:15 a.m. for breakfast, but they were already out of food, had no available clean dishes and did not have ANY coffee available the entire morning. The $3.99 children's breakfast mentioned nothing about not including ANY type of drink with that (juice nor milk)!!! It was an extreme disappointment for my daughter and I, as this was our very first visit to the Peoria area, and in participating in our first St. Jude Hospital Benefit. How sad for Holiday Inn to allow this location to continue to operate in such a shameful and incompetent manner! They owe all of us an apology. Anna Maria

Good value but needs fixing up.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/05/06
Although some rooms are being renovated, we were put in a room with dirty furniture, old a/c that didn't work very well, and a shabby bathroom with the fixtures worn down to the brass. The attached Bennigan's provides pretty good casual lunch and dinner fare, but the banquet food served for our meeting was just passable. Convention room rates are very reasonable, and parking in the garage is free.

Front desk tried, but hotel has problems
By GARY, 06/11/06
First room we were given the AC did not work (very hot day). Front desk upgraded us for our bother (great people at front desk). Our attempt to use the very nice swimming pool ended as we walked in and seen people bathing themselves in the pool (shampoo, soap, washrag while in the swimming pool!). We informed the front desk and they said they would try to eliminate the problem in the future.

Oy!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/23/05
What a disaster from start to finish. The room service took 2 hrs. I found a bug in my bed and I had to have them bring me a new tv. The only good thing was that the staff was helpful in getting these and other problems fixed.

Decent value, but hot room
By Scott, 06/09/05
Two blocks from Main Street makes this a prime location for the price. Have dinner at in-house restaurant Bennigan's, then head to Sully's for drinks and Big Al's for "entertainment." The room was spacious, but not as described on the website; there was no ergonomic desk chair or ottoman. Also, when I checked in, the room was so hot from not having the air conditioner on at all, that I had to leave for a while so that it could cool down enough for me to breathe. Overall, a decent value relative to other downtown hotels.
