Awesome for the Price
By ,
I thought this place was awesome! It is right across the street from Waikiki Beach, and walking distance from Most everything. Douglas, Trevor, and Greg were awesome frontdesk people hope i recalled thier names. The only thing that was not the best was the lift, it was small and anything more than three people was tight. But after all you only spend 4 minutes in it at a time so who cares. I will be going back here for sure with in the year.

Greg was great!
By ,
Greg is the Best!! Very accommodating, tried his best to make it a great stay. The Aqua Waikiki Beachside Hotel is fortunate to have such a good employee at the front desk. As with most organizations, an experience is usually only as good as its staff, given all other factors equal.

I stayed in this hotel from 7/31/08 to 8/04/08. It was on the 11 th floorI.My room was reserved by my travel agent. I think the agent made money on it. This hotel is really convenient, but it is really too old that I have never stay in such condition . Something was really bother me was : The air condition is so old and made so much noisy,I woke up every two hours. I really couldn't sleep. I also found some tiny ants got into my bowl of orange. How much you pay, how much the quality! From Fremont, CA

We loved this hotel
By ,
We were plesantly surprised by this quaint little hotel, we loved all the little idiosynchracies about it, we were just able to squeeze in to every facility and loved all of them. We loved the ladies who refreshed our room every day, and all the front desk guys, and the gatherings every morning for breakfast. We had room 1103 from 23 March to 29 March which is right in the middle (there are 3 rooms acrss the front) nothing could have been better. It is sooooo convenient to the beach - this is why we came to Hawaii, and to the public transport system - really great also, and we were on the beach across the steeet every single day of the 6 days we were there. The bigger hotels were fine (we went on to 6 more) but for an unpretentiuos place to stay this is it. Shhh, don't tell anyone. Robert Rowe

Got this hotel from hotwire
By ,
March 23,2008 Summary: Oh my! Stay away from this place until they renovate it. Cons: Ok, let's get to the details. I got this hotel after trying clicking on a 2.5 stars rated hotel for $79+fees at hotwire. There is NO way this place is 2.5 stars, I would say 2 stars at the most. If I had any idea of this hotel as being one of the choices I would have never clicked on it. This is no Holiday Inn Express, etc. The carpet, walls, doors, AC, etc is old and run down. The TV remote control was broken and the little fridge barely worked. There is no internet connection, not even wireless. You have to walk over to the Hyatt or internet cafe shop in the International Market (which is about 3 blocks). The balcony was under construction and thus no access. Parking is valet only. I think they said it's $18/day. Pros: The plus is that it's just across the street from the Waikiki beach and walking distance to the actions of Waikiki. The people that work there (such as the front desk) are very friendly and really try to make your stay enjoyable. The bathroom was clean and working. The bed was also clean and comfortable. Conclusion: If you are only interested in location and price then this is the place for you. If you don't mind paying a little more to get a cleaner, better, and non-shocking room then go to the other hotels near by. My two cents.

We will never stay there again!
By ,
While the staff was friendly, accomodating and gracious, the room was old, rundown and unclean. The water faucet in the bathroom not only turned on by itself, but made noise all night. The air conditioner was old, dirty and moldy. Since the air conditioner was right over our bed, it blew on our faces all night. There was no bed frame so the bed was on the floor--very low. The carpet was dirty. Even though, they "upgraded" us to another room where the bathroom faucet worked proberly, the condition of the room was the same as the first room. In addition, "yellow caution" tape surrounded the balcony--we were not allowed on the balcony for safety reasons. We cannot recommend this hotel!

Looking forward to our return
By ,
We loved the location right on the beach at Waikiki with Hawaiian heritage stage shows daily in the park across the street. The staff at this Boutique hotel is very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable about local attractions. The rooms are small but for the price and location we have found this to be the ideal place for us to stay. Room service is excellent, bathrooms clean and fresh daily. We are currently attempting to reserve this hotel for our Christmas 2008/2009 vacation. Richard and Linda Lee

You get what you pay for
By ,
Before staying at this hotel I had read all of these reviews and was nervous. I just want to say that, while yes, all of these bad reviews are true, it still is not that bad. Here's what I think is an honest assessment of the hotel: THE BAD -Rooms are small -Carpets are very dirty -Mirrors in lobby have thick coat of grime -Elevator is VERY small and delapedated -Cabinet holding TV is falling apart -Paint chipping everywhere -Door to hotel room hard to shut -Free breakfast is only from 7:30-8:30 -Annoying salesman stationed right outside door THE GOOD -Service is friendly -Location is wonderful and convenient -Clean and nice bathroom -Clean bed -Its cheap Honestly, when we first arrived, having stayed the last time at the Hilton Village, I was deeply disappointed. However, we got used to it and you know what? It's not that bad! It was probably once a beautiful hotel that has just really run down. But its cheap, its close to all the action on Waikiki and, for goodness sake, you're in Hawaii! All you need is a clean bed and a clean bathroom is all you need (which they were). Maybe I had just been spoiled by the Hilton, but this place is definitely not exactly the horror story that these reviews say. You will not run away screaming from this hotel. It's not a palace, but it is definitely not a dungeon.

Terrible
By ,
The Waikiki Beachside Hotel does not deliver much for the traveler, other than a great location: amenities are minimal, and the hotel hasn't been updated in decades. There was a very strong mildew smell in our room which was never resolved, nor could management of the hotel figure out how to find us another room that didn't smell. I would strongly advise anyone considering this hotel to look elsewhere. (Additionally, I am very suspicious of positive comments regarding this hotel. There was simply nothing positive about the experience of staying here.)
