Good location but I wouldn't go back.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/9/09
The condo we rented was decorated very sparsely and would be much better if there were tile floors. The carpet was heavily stained and needs cleaning badly. First appearance with a nice lobby and the pool and grounds are very well kept. Management should make sure the carpets are kept clean.

do you feel lucky?
By Soni, 9/7/07
Since this is not a rental property in traditional sense. It can be a hit or miss. For myself, it was a miss. The place had really bad mattress. The kitchen sink and standing showere weren't that great either. The AC was very noisy and worst of all the hot water tap in shower did not work. That means I had to take cold shower during stay. When I complained, I was given a key to other apartment to use shower. I will suggest Seaside Hotel instead which is just a block away and 10 times better with little bit more charge

Loved It!, Would Go Back
By Caroline, 7/17/07
My first time to Hawaii, I loved the location, easy walking distance to rest./shops, across from a gorgeous beach. I had a 2nd flr. unit facing pool. My favorite thing about the whole place is the very lush garden courtyard with a path way that was filled was such an intoxicating aroma of tropical flowers every time you walked toward the beach. The employees were great, and very helpful. You felt very secluded yet you were in the middle of everthing you could want to do, the room was spacious the kitchette was a plus. It isnt a palace but the people and the fact that your in paradise sure makes up for it. Kona is a place you will that you will never forget, and the Kona Islander is a place I have not forgoten either.

Great Location
By SandiB, 2/5/07
If you're not looking for luxury but just a place to put your head down at night, then this is the place to stay. Pricing was terrific for the budget minded and the location couldn't be better! Right in the middle of where all the shops, restaurant, beaches withing walking distrance and excusions just down the street. I would definately stay here again but be warned that you might want to take a look at your unit before committing. Each unit is decorated according to it's owner. Not your typical timeshare.

Hit or Miss Rooms
By Arthur, 11/29/06
Some units are nice, others terrible. During busy times, you will be stuck with what you get. This is because the facility is a condominium, with various owners who do various service to their apartments. This will be a nice place for pensioners, hostelers, backpackers needing a room, low-budget travelers. Otherwise, it is likely you will be dissappointed.

Great Rate & Location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/5/06
We've stayed at the Kona Islander Inn 3 times over the last 6 years. Nice and comfortable but the parking is a problem. Close to all the activities including night life.

Kona Islander
By Eric, 8/19/04
What a great vacation. We stayed here for one week and it was very relaxing. Good restaurants, shopping, and fun activites like going to a luau, sunning on the beaches, and biking through the "rain forests". I'm definitely going back next year.
