Would love to go back!
By Brittany, 12/7/09
We went for our honeymoon and had such a great time, the room was fantastic, newly remodeled, and the staff is absolutely fantastic. The beach was so peaceful and the view was great! We will definitely stay here when we go back to Hawaii!

Taste Of Old Hawaii
By Ron, 4/16/09
This hotel is a little dated but if you want a real experience stay here. It is not like staying on the Kona Coast everything you need is within walking distance no need for a car. I have stayed both here and on the Kona Coast and I like the King Kamehamahas the best.

Old, tired and expensive
By Mike, 2/25/09
The rooms wall coverings, paint and furniture are visibly worn and out of date. The bathroom had nasty brown drip stains on the ceiling and the floor had dirt and crud in the corners. No drinking glasses (coffee cups though). Room parking is not included ($10.50 / day). Staff is average. Hotel desk does not answer the phone. Some non-smoking rooms smell like smoke. Out the door with tax and parking $149.00. Value wise my wife gives it about $65.00/night. Won't use them again.

A HOTEL THAT ACTUALLY RENTS ROOM WITH BAD BEDS
By Ginger, 3/29/08
When we stayed at the King Kamehameha hotel I felt that I had stepped back to the 60’s. When we first stepped into the room the face of my 9 year old daughter dropped, she didn’t want to stay there. The room smelled clean but that was the ONLY good part. Furniture looked like it just came from Goodwill, peeling rattan furniture with VINYL cushions, the headboard also had VINYL padding, one corner of the room was cracked – there was a gap in the wallpaper from floor to ceiling and the carpet was stained in several places. We were on the 2nd floor and our view was the rooftop of the mostly unoccupied shops on the hotel property and it was littered with cigarette butts, we noticed it because a few were still burning. The balcony was furnished with rusting, chipped metal chairs so it made it look even more uninviting. THE WORST part of all was the mattresses on the beds…box springs were stained and old, the top mattress on one of the beds looked newer but the other bed had an old stained mattress WITH A WOODEN BOARD PUT IN BETWEEN THE MATRESS AND THE BOX SPRING!!! I couldn’t believe my eyes and still can’t believe that a hotel would do this!!!!!! This is the first time that I stayed in a hotel and had a hard time walking after the 2nd night there because my back was killing me. We took our daughter swimming in the GREEN tinged pool with broken tiles all around the edges and were constantly shooing away annoying flies. This is one of the only hotels (besides the Naniloa in Hilo) that we stayed in where we couldn’t wait to check out and go home! We have already said that we will NEVER stay here again!

It's okay...
By LaVyrlL, 11/4/07
I like that it's in Kona. I live in Waimea and because I had to take care of business there for couple of days I find that staying here is convinient. Kamaaina prices were reasonable. Lots of parking ($7/day). There are restaurants in walking distance. They have an awesome buffet. What I did not like is the comfort of the bed, too soft. The hotel in general could use a complete renovation. The air vents needs cleaning (we wake up with allergies) The carpets are yucky (must wear slippers at all times). I think they lock their back/side doors about 10pm for security reasons. So you have to park your car and walk around to the front entrance. It's pretty far, lighting is poorly lit, so you have to walk with caution. I would visit again. It's not like you're planning to stay in the room all day...you're in Kona!

BE AWARE OF YOUR RESERVATION!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/4/07
BE AWARE OF YOUR RESERVATIONS. YOUR CREDIT CARD WILL BE CHARGED THE DAY YOU MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS. IF YOU CANCEL IN THE ALLOWED TIME, AND THE HOTEL DOESN'T PROCESS YOUR CANCELLATION WITH YOUR CREDIT COMPANY, YOU WILL BE CHARGED WITH A FINANCIAL CHARGE THAT WAS NOT YOUR FAULT. THE HOTEL HAS REFUSED TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THE FINANCE CHARGE THAT WAS DUE TO THEIR NEGLIGENCE. I LIVE IN HAWAII AND IT SEEMS TO ME IF THEY CAN'T TAKE CARE OF THEIR OWN, HOW WILL THEY TAKE CARE OF YOU TOURISTS. THE AMOUNT IS NOT AN ISSUE, IT'S THE PRINCIPLE OF THE MATTER.
