Miscommunication, rude front desk, and more
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/01/08
In a nutshell, the phone reps do not communicate with the actual hotel, they try not to deliver on package items unless you have proof, and the front desk is rude and confrontational. Great way to start a vacation, right?!
We booked the “Pleasure Island Farewell Orlando Hotel Deal” for weekend visit of 3 nights. It is advertised as $89+ and 2 PI tickets per night. We booked directy with the hotel after confirming the package details.
Our flight was cancelled, so we did not make it to hotel until 1 day later. We had made multiple calls to the hotel's Orlando number and be assured multiple times that our reservation was still good and there would no penalty for arriving late.
However we arrived and a very confrontatial, rude front desk hostess and manager told us the reservation was a "no show yesterday" and had been cancelled. They said the phone representatives are in Canada, so our previous calls and assurances were not valid.
Exhausted from travel, we refused to leave until they honored our reservation. We eventually were given "the last room left" and only 2 PI tickets, rather than 4 (2 per night according to package). We argued and displayed our original reservation email that clearly stated Daily Rate including 2 PI tickets per night of the reservation. They could not argue with physical proof. It was a very unwelcoming and negative experience to start off our stay.
Needless to say, we will not ever stay there again. A few dollars less is not worth a negative experience at your hotel. Stay anywhere else.
