Not as great as USED to be
By ,
I have went few times in 2009 and 2010 . I was able to go back this year and was truly looking forward this amazing place I had memories for . Hilton has changed and no raised their prices on conopy room almost twice since 2010. Parking went from $12 to $14. No more computers for guests use, now they charge $25/night for WI FI. Beach towel if not returned you will get charged $15 !! Who does that? An on top the towels so little that you need at least 3 to cover a beach chair. Very disapointed of how the place was let go down . I love the location and privacy of the resort but will not pay $200/night for a dirty carpet and low maintained beach .

Good overall but some points to mention.
By ,
Grounds, staff, beach, breakfast, pool really great! Cleanliness, hot tub, activities not so good. Really boring if you want to shop or party. You need to go to Key West (2 hour drive). Good family place for hanging on beach or romantic getaway for quiet time. Nice grounds, walk through paths, hammock beach, very jungle-ish. We stayed in the first floor hammock beach room and it smelled of urine. Probably because pets are allowed and often stay on first floor. Carpets were filthy. The building is old and needs updates and they are constantly battling the weather, humidity with new paint. Bed was nice but couch and carpets worn. Hammock beach was small and nice but there was a family who would run out every morning and put their towels on all the chaise lounges so no one could use them. Housekeeping was poor, didn't restock shampoos or clean toilet, shower. Breakfast buffet was so good. I loved it. Waitstaff very nice and friendly. We moved to the 3rd floor after a few days and had a nice bay view. The weather turned cold so we lost a day of outdoor time. The pool was great with the waterfall and floating lounges, adult side. The family side has a bar and food. The hot tub was awful. It wasnt hot enough and it was scummy with only a few jets working. We stay in Hilton hotels all over the country and this one was on the bottom and I would not stay there again. It is a good family place and has water sports right off the beach. There is a dock too if you want to rent a boat. I enjoyed driving to Key West and seeing the keys and the bridges. The highway is in good shape. Bay was too cold for me but the pool was warm and I loved it!

Had a great time
By ,
The property is beautiful and very well kept. Everyone was very attentive and helpful. My only problem with with the restaurant. They had a keys seafood special on the day we arrived "Friday" it was not what we expected at all, overpriced for what we got. Saturday the special was prime rib, they had nothing rare, or medium rare. The medium was quite "done" and very dry. Sunday special was same as Friday. Quite boring if you plan on eating in so get out and find an altenative, there are many around for the same price but lots better.

Not worth the money
By ,
Poor housekeeping, overpriced food, terrible beach, parking charge all add up to a disappointing experience. Typical breakfast of two eggs toast bacon $10.00. Coffee $3.50 and orange juice $5.00. If you think $37.00 plus the recommended gratuity of %18 ($6.66) which bring the total to $43.66 is a good price for breakfast for two, the by all means this is the place for you. My opinion is you would probably fair much better at the Days Inn or Marriott PS: A hot dog at they pool bar is value priced at $9.00 No kidding!.

Disappointing
By ,
We booked this place for a family vacation considering the advertised activities. When walked to the activity cabana by the water to make arrangements, the lady behind the desk said they only do wave runners, Banana or Parachute pulled by a boat, everything else (snorkeling, dolphins, scuba, etc.) are available, but outside of the hotel within a mile!? She continued with a rude attitude when my kid asked for more information basically blowing us off. We left and went down the road to a local place called Theater of the Sea, ended up meeting some wonderful local people, and made arrangements for all day activities. Now, using the hotel just to sleep, we asked for a radio with a connection to iPod, and the front desk said, sure no problem. Every time we followed up, desk said, oh I see it here as completed! Sorry we’ll take care of it right away, but for 3 days, we never got it. The final night, I called and she said, I apologies, I will wright-off your resort parking fee ($20 per day – by the way, look for hidden fees like this,) so I said OK. At the checkout, they try to charge it again, and when I mentioned the write-off, they conducted a 20 minutes interrogation with me!? And then she said, yes, I see her notes here!? So in short: not really a resort; bad guest services; rudeness toward kids at the beach activity cabana! We are a Hilton member, but very disappointed at this one. However Not to take anything away from the wonderful local businesses and people of Key Largo

Embarrassing
By ,
We were at this Hotel around the mid July and I had to witness an embarrassing conduct from the lady at the activities cabana by the beach toward a guest (a man and his daughter) while they were asking for information about activities. I was next in-line and am not sure what the reason was but the lady seem to be unreasonably rude and ignorant and openly trying to blow them off. She turned to me and asked if we need help, I replied, they were here first, and she said, whatever and went off to the next person, which he found himself in a bad position, said nothing and took his kids and left.

don't plan anything here without a back bone
By ,
I was planning a destination wedding and was torn between here and the Marriott. My planner was not too helpful in my planning process, If she had told me more of the services they provided I would have spent way more money there, and my wedding alone was 15,000.00 If I would've known i could get day of the wedding massages in my room and all this other amazing stuff they offer to brides and grooms i totally would've done it. I had issues with her not getting back to me via e-mail and she just seemed like I was just her commission or something. I had to send e-mails saying the same stuff and she would just forward them to a secretary and then I would e-mail them and then when i talked to her again she didn't have my additions. I made the right decision in the end i think though. I planned an outside wedding with a reception inside right about sunset with a dinner, not a buffet. It rained the morning of my wedding... but it was only sprinkling from 12-2 and sunny after that and my wedding was at 4. we talked about having the wedding inside because of the rain but said it would depend on the rain and she would do "everything in her power to have it outside" so after i go to my spa treatment and feel so relaxed cause its sunny and see why there is no reason to have it inside i hear from my soon to be husband that she refuses to change it from inside because "they already set it up" and i still have to pay the 1000.00 site fee for outside! because shes too lazy? so my mood is now pissed and i go to the lobby to talk to her in person since my fiance was the one that talked to her. I demand to see her cutting in front of everyone in line and the lobby is full. I was in my wedding dress mind you and my wedding was supposed to start in 20 minutes! She came down and told me that it was already set up cause i told her that it was ok to put it inside. I replied with what we talked about was IF it was still raining and ITS NOT so your moving it, I didn't spend all this money to have you not feel like moving a freakin arch! She said "ok I will get right on it." not like she had a choice all the guests in the lobby were intrigued to our conversation that was not so quiet. The only other problem i had after that was that right before i walked down the aisle they forgot to put the flower petals and floral arrangements out. they were actually in my hotel room.... After i walked down the aisle things were alot smoother. At the reception it was nice having a bartender and countless servers at my feet, for only a guest count or 20 there were so many staff members. They were kinda too good. they were nice enough to give us 2 of each hors d'oeuvres we had for the guests, but I only got to try one and then i got up to pee and they were gone, the same thing happened with my appetizer and even my wedding cake! my husband only took 2 bites of the cake and went up to talk to his dad and poof gone. i had to fight to keep my bread basket. but honestly i didnt care at that point, i had a amazing steel drum player (bob lyons) that i found on you tube, and he kept the mood nice and relaxed. Not to mention the open bar that was pretty strong..lol my stay was amazing though. My room was # 420 and really nice i just dont recommend the room if you have a little one. there was no way to block off my daughters side of the room, but we still had a blast. Also for you long haired girls, watch out for the jet tub in your suite it sucked my hair in it and if my husband wasn't there I would've been in trouble he turned off the jets which was on the wall so if this happens to you, you are screwed if you don't have anyone to turn the jets off!! the room 420 is a room i would recommend you get if you want a breath taking room. You see everything from your bed, even the jet tub you can see the ocean. the sunsets are amazing. Overall everything was awesome but you just have to stick up for yourself if you are planning an event for want you want.

Very nice hotel but pricey for what you get.
By ,
The views from this hotel were amazing. I had my wedding there & the location for the ceremony was perfect! The reception venue was beautiful as well. The only complaint i had about our wedding day was that the hotel staff promised me that the beach where the wedding ceremony was to be held, (which isnt anywhere near their main beach) they would put up signs first thing the morning of the wedding to keep hotel guests from that area- this wasn't the case. My guests continued to ask the hotel staffers to have a couple of rude guests to just move over a few feet & the hotel's response was "we cant ask them to move." One of my guests ended up paying the rude guests to leave the little beach area. Mind you, we had paid extra to have our ceremony there at Hammock Beach. I wish I could say that my guests were as thrilled with their rooms as I was (I had the bridal suite) but that is not the case. Be sure to request a room on at least the 3rd floor so that you get a view of more than trees, & make sure you room is ocean side, not parking lot side! Otherwise you will be disappointed for the price you pay & the view you are not getting. The rooms were average but without the view, the rooms themselves don't make up for the price of the room. We even had a few guests who only had a "gym shower" - not even a bathtub. For a room that was $200 per night that is unacceptable.

wonderful time
By ,
we stayed at the resort for our wedding. Lisa was awesome and upgraded our room for us. the rooms were clean and the bed was comfy. the beaches were decent, they should really rake the leaves off them though. food was pricey and really not that great, but there are alot of restaurants near by, we liked rib daddys. the bars by the pool and on the beach closed before or at sunset which was rather disappointing. werent happy about having to pay for internet in rooms and internet in lobby was rather slow. had one issue with a wake up call not being received but lisa took care of that as well and took money off our stay. Overall it was a great trip

Better than ever
By ,
This was my ninth stay at the hotel-- the trips began when this was a Sheraton and continued through the Westin, then Sheraton, then independent and now Hilton phases. The rooms and decor have been updated. The service (including resolution of a minor problem) remain outstanding. This is a truly unique, semi-hidden gem. Although it's a long way from Seattle, everytime I leave I look forward to my next stay. It's also a great home base for doing things in the Keys.
