Run away as fast as you can!

On March 25th, 2005 at approximately noon, we checked into this Inn and obtained room number 105. We paid with a VISA and received an electronic key. The room had been made up and no further maid service was required. We entered the room and closed the drapes and turned on the air conditioner so the room would be comfortable for us when we returned. We did not leave any personal items in the room and did not use any of the room furnishings at this time. Upon returning to the Inn (approximately midnight), we discovered that someone had entered the premises, opened the drapes, and shut off the air conditioning unit. When I queried the desk person regarding this matter, he replied the house keeping person was "probably" in there... Needless to say, this left me and my family (wife, an infant, and 7 year old child) feeling rather unsafe as there was absolutely no reason that housekeeping should have to enter a rented room to do 'another' cleaning within hours of it being let. Matter number two: When we began taking our personal effects into the room for the night, I was approached by an unscrupulous individual and was asked if I wanted to buy a VCR. I replied I had not the time to converse. At this point the individual let out with a string of profanities too numerous and obscene to report here. I reported this to the desk help once again and he said he would call "security" whatever that was... In the meanwhile, the individual was continuing his canvassing of other customers in order to sell his wares. I watched this individual for a few minutes from my car and saw him standing in front of our room (105) then run down the hallway back to where his room was... I went in to the Desk person and stated we were in fear for our safety and requested a refund. I was told there would be no refund forthcoming. My family left the room and returned the electronic key. We drove back to Tampa without using the room. There was also a safety issue in the room. The electrical switch used to turn on the light in the rest room is approximately 1/2 inch away from the wall and the switch itself is therefore exposed. I am not certain this is in accordance with Florida State electrical code... Of 4 lamps in the room, only 2 functioned. Pool was filthy. Complaint sent to BBB, AAA, and State of Florida Department of Business and Professional
Regulation.
