I wouldn't stayed here if you paid me!
By DJ Limbo, 10/28/08
I would like to start by saying this was the worst hotel experience I have ever endured, let alone paid for. From the beginning, we ate in the buffet and were misinformed of the price, then charged an 18% gratuity, when it took my "waitress" 15 minutes to bring me a cup of coffee...which was her ONLY trip to my table. The food was ridiculous and we found ants on the muffins, which was disgusting, but forgiveable, at this point. We then went to the front desk to check in and asked for suggestions for pizza delivery because we weren't from around there. The front desk agent simply replied, "Oh, there's Dominoes and stuff", and that was the end of it. We checked in to our room and settled in. At about 11pm, a man, who I am assuming was a maintenance man, attempted to ENTER OUR ROOM. Luckily, we had the latch on, but he actually put in the key, unlocked it, and tried to come in, without so much as a knock. As I wake from my sleep and go in to the bathroom, I notice DRIED BLOOD on the toilet. I had had it with the place at that point. Be assured, I have already contacted the Miami Health Services Department with that one. Moving on: the air conditioner in our room was clearly malfunctioning, it went on and off every 15 minutes with an EXTREMELY loud screeching and grinding noise, probably why the man tried to enter our room. To top it all off, when I took a shower the next morning, there was ABSOLUTELY NO HOT WATER. I'm not an idiot, I know how to work a faucet, there was simply no hot water. I will never stay at a Hilton again. I have been a longtime Starwood member and rightly so. We made a reservation last-minute or I would have never stayed there in the first place, but believe me, I have learned my lesson! I only paid $111 for the room, not including the ridiculous $48 for breakfast, but I wouldn't stay at Hilton Miami Downtown again.

Choose Another Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/2/08
The reason why we chose this hotel was because it was supposed to have been remodeled within the last 6 months. This hotel fell well below our expectations. We booked through the hilton 800 number and was told the best rate we had to pay in full so we did that for two rooms. We were not told that it was a net direct rate and it was non refundable or non exchangeagble and we came during hurricane season. The staff upon arrival - a young lady was assisting us with our check in. Had no rooms available that fit our request that was booked and paid in full so she got frustrated and walked away. A gentleman by the name of Tori was exceptional in picking up the pieces to assist us with our check in at 1am (after our flight arrived). He was able to put us in two king rooms, but they were not remodeled, had poor internet service, were not remodeled, and smelled Horrible. The smell was so overpowering that as soon as you opened the door you could smell it in the hallway. We were told that these were the only king rooms that were left. So we made the best of the room and went down the street to walgreens and got some candles febreeze and lysol to disinfect the room and make it liveable for our stay. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone. The resources such as the Internet could be better. Connectivity could be improved. The bar hours of operation could be better - if you are on vacation 4pm until 10pm are very limited and forces you to have to go elsewhere to patronize other restaurants and services. The selections are limited as well - with luxury prices, one expects luxury and at the very least premium selections. That can be improved.

Very nice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/28/08
We spent two nights at the Hilton prior to a cruise and were a little apprehensive because some of the reviews were negative. However, we got a great room, excellently maintained, with wonderful service. Highly recommend this hotel.

market america convention
By aim, 2/21/08
The most unfriendly front desk lady staff named Christian ( go to another line if you see her because she will disappear for 20 minutes in the middle of checking in) and beast looking angry front desk manager Juan Va...III. No where on earth a hotel will put people like that to scare off their guest. The rest of the staffs are okay. Rooms are clean.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/30/08
arrived around 6.30 PM when we went to our room it was a mess. it took the hotel until 11.30pm to clean it up. There was a horrible smell in the room like someone had urinated on the carpet. furniture was broken , lamp shades were missing . There were feathers stuck to the wall!!!! and God only knows with what.we had no soap or shampoo we complained to the desk and nothing was done. We were very disappointed with the room.and service. Never again will I ever go there!

Hotel - Security Issues
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/9/07
Incursion into my room at 2:00 AM as a result of the frontdesk reissuing my room to another guest. Serious breach of security. Hotel is old. Three elevators are out of service. Serious concerns about safety AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Your personal security is at risk.

not a good option!!!!
By Carissa Schulz, 10/31/07
Although the downstairs was gorgeous the rooms are not that nice. POORLY lit.The elevators are very annoying. No one refilled our shampoo, conditioner and soap. I had some valuables left in the room and after someone had cleaned the room, my valuables were MISSING! Never to be found. When I called to see if they had found my valuables it was simply pointless and no one knew anything about my valuables! The area seemed like it was not the best in town, in fact it was a very dirty area of miami. We went to dinner one afternoon at the restraunt and waited an hour and a half to get any food. It was the worst hotel experience I have ever had and I have traveled quite a bit and have had many great hotel experiences in the past. I would not recommend staying at this hotel if it was the last option in town!
