Dear Choice Hotels, I need to tell you about my most recent encounter with one of your hotels I had reservations at Comfort Inn on the Beach in Ormond Beach Florida and was so upset when they didn't honor the Friends and Family discount I had reserved. My nephew is an employee in Boone NC and had faxed a copy of the discount card but the manager insisted at first she hadn't gotten it then said that it could not be faxed and that it had to be hand delivered. Well, at all other choice hotels the management had understood that my nephew lives in Boone NC while I live in Florida so a hand delivered discount card isn't always possible. My children were already checked into their room and had gotten the discount (faxed card) without a problem so I don't understand what the problem was with my reservation. I see my children and grandchildren about twice a year and we had made reservations at this hotel to sun and visit for one night while they were vacationing in Florida and I had to go home because of this manager not wanting to give two rooms away at the discounted price. I enjoyed my children for that day but had to go home that night instead of staying over to get one more hug in the next morning before they headed home to NC. I may never stay at a Choice Hotel again because of this. I was so upset I cried all the way home. Sheryl Stradley

After leaving the hotel I originally booked for our trip because of the horrifying rooms, I stopped at Comfort Inn to see if they had rooms available. The staff was wonderful and even provided us a great rate after the ordeal we had just suffered. All the staff and management was very polite and informative of area attractions. The beach area is great, not overly crowded and the location is perfect. Looking forward to going back!

Our room(201)at this Inn was absolutely disgusting...the room was dirty everywhere.There was mold on the shower cutain,rust all over the miniature bathtub, dirt piles in every corner,widows were moldy,garbage in the garbage cans and our door lock was broken and much more!I wouldn't let my kids take off their socks!!.I was so grossed out I couldn't sleep...thank god it was only for one night!!!

The beach, staff, and clean rooms was great. Our room 413 had broken cabinets in kitchen, the breakfest area needed to be larger(never enough seating or room to move around (only three tables), and the pool needed to stay open later during summer hours (closed at 9pm). The staff was very friendly. The view was beautiful. Beach access was easy.

Even the beautiful view (from the ocean-front rooms) isn't enough to keep me coming back. The day-manager is nasty and hostile. VERY ADA and PET UNFRIENDLY! I've stayed a few times, each time she grew nastier. Ocean-front rooms and housekeepers are very nice. Owner is pleasant but not often around. The Day-manager can ruin your vacation. I suggest the Quality Inn just up the road for similar ocean-view.

I made reservations via phone - I said I wanted a 1st floor room with double beds for 2 people and 4 dogs (all under 30 lbs). They said that was not a problem. I called the day before we left - still - not a problem. Got there and was informed by a rude woman at the check in desk that only ONE pet was allowed and it MUST be under 10 lbs. The place also stunk of curry - someone was cooking Indian food in the office. IT STUNK HORRIBLY. After a 7 hour drive, 3 hours of agility with our dogs, we were rudely turned away and had to spend an hour in their parking lot on our cell phones to try to find another room. We'll NEVER stay at another Comfort Inn. THEY NEED TO TAKE THE "PET FRIENDLY" STATUS OFF OF THEIR ADS.

We were originally going to spend the night at the Coral Sands, but once we saw what a dump it was, we promptly changed our plans and found the Comfort Inn. The staff was courteous and helpful, and we ended up getting a room with a wonderful view. The price was unbeatable, and well worth the stay. I recommend this hotel!

I liked the closeness of hotel to beach, restaurants, shopping, nitelife & other activities. But quieter than right in downtown Daytona.
