Sombrero Reef Inn, Marathon

Small Mom and Pop wayyyy off of US1, which made for a nice quiet stay. Clean, not always an easy thing to find in the Keys. We come down every year and I think this may be our new spot! Don't want to talk it too much as we hope there is room for us. The room we were in, 17, was HUGE! Gotta see the room to understand, but it's almost like two rooms in one. Right on the water. We bought pastries at the local deli and ate breakfast on the water with the birds each morning. It was a little chilly during our stay and the room doesn't have heat, but we heated up our breakfast in the oven and it helped. Plus sitting in the sun was a plus too. The owners also have a restaurant a few miles away in Key Colony. Free drink for their guests.

We were a little uneasy about this place since it had the only vacancy on the island. But we were pleasently surprised. Nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable. We would have liked a pool, but the beach was close enough. I think the prices on yahoo are wrong too. we will be back.

Great place to stay, wonderful rooms and relaxed atmosphere. Calmest place in the Keys.....

We were pleased with the cleanliness and decoration. It was very pleasant to wake in the morning and feast your eyes on the canal, and palm trees. We will definitely stay here again.

Off the beaten path, these rooms are far from the roadside shacks you find in the Keys. They are 1 mile off of US1 located in the middle of the Sombrero Community. They have a private ramp and dockage free for weekly renters. You can't beat the stay at Sombrero Reef Inn & Fishing Lodge in Marathon with it's beautiful palm shaded seating and tranquil lagoon views.
