Excellent beach, very clean hotel
My husband and I stayed here Feb 2010 for 3 nights. The accommodations were very, very clean. The bedding soft and comfortable. It is a typical “Motel” style (wherein you step outdoors when you step out of your room), but it was quiet. The motel sits perpendicular to the beach, so you can’t really see the beach from your room, but it’s just a few yards from a huge, soft, white sanded beach. You have to walk about 1000 feet to reach the water, but it’s a nice walk through soft, clean sand. There were only two down sides to this stay. Breakfast is not included in the overnight stay, unfortunately, but there’s a nice restaurant in the motel. We just bought cereal & milk & ate in our room or lunchmeat and bread, etc. for picnics to cut costs. There’s a grocery store and drug store very closeby and a fridge in the room. The other down side is that in order to lay on the beach, you either need to bring y our own chairs, lay on the sand, or rent chairs from them, which cost $25/day, no matter how long you stay there. That’s not the motel fee, that’s a fee from a vendor on the beach. Other than that, there are plenty of souvenir and other shops on the island, a drug store, shops and restaurants within walking distance. Be prepared for some higher food rates. We got ice cream and coffee at a place nearby and it was $19 for two of us. In heavy tourist season, which this was, traffic was heavy, so took nearly 20 minutes to drive three miles up to the other end of the island. The motel staff very friendly and helpful.
