Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort, Clearwater

This hotel is not on the beach. It has a nice pool adjacent to the gulf and was nice and clean. The pool is a nice beach alternative when the wind is up and the sand is blowing. But we expected it to be on the beach from the details and were really disappointed to find that it wasn't. It'd be a nice place to stay if you understood what you were getting for the money.

Liked everything! Location, Location, Location. The location is close to dining, entertainment, drug stores and shops. The hotel is separate from most of the rest of Clearwater Beach providing a private play area for children away from large crowds. It would be hard for the kids to get lost. It is child friendly with a day care/game area for the kids to visit. They also have a small playscape. It is the only hotel I would stay at again.

The view from our balcony, overlooking the pool and the beach and ocean were outstanding. The bands at the nearby hotels at night were so entertaining. The room was clean and spacious. We will definitely return!

We had a great time at this hotel. We have spent three spring break vacations here and it only gets better every year. The view from the tower is spectacular and the sunsets are gorgeous. The beach and Tiki Bar are so relaxing. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. We loved it here.

My stay at the Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort was very nice. The room had plenty of space and the refrigerator worked just fine. The room was very clean. The Cafe served a very nice breakfast. The pool area and hot tub was also something we enjoyed very much.

The internet picture does not show there is a huge bridge on the side of the hotel. The hotel in on the Clearwater path, not the open ocean. No waves, ocean felt like lake water. Rooms very old with the old noisy air conditioner, loud while running, impossible to sleep. Good things about hotel are the staff, very friendly and attentive. Pool, Tiki Bar, restuarant very nice. Beach was nice. Nice coffee bar in lobby. If you want beach front, this is not the hotel for you.

We stayed here from Sept 18-23 2005. I was getting worried after reading some of the reviews about this place. I found not only the staff, but everyone in the C W Beach area to be extremely nice, friendly, and helpful. Our room was clean and had been cleaned every day. The view from the balcony on the 4th floor was nothing less than spectacular. And the sunsets! Wow! I enjoyed getting up in the morning, grabbing the USA Today (free) and sitting out on the balcony reading. The view was amazing. We could see the pool, the hot tub, the kiddie pool, the Tiki Bar, the beach, the gulf and the inlet. Could watch the Pirate Ship go in and out every night. Also, one person wrote that there was a charge for beach chairs. There is, but I saw people take the loungers from around the pool area and take them to the beach and nothing was said about it. I don't think they care as long as you bring them back. The service at the restaurant was slow, but that wasn't going to ruin our stay. All in all, we had a wonderful stay here. I hope to go back again next year. The location is perfect, the view spectacular, and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to help and assist you. We had a great stay here and I would deffinately come back to the SunSpree Resort.

I checked the web reviews and found some negative reviews--boy, do I wish I would have listened. My Room faced the causeway that the "hotel" is facing. Don't let the pics fool you. They are nopt Gulf View!! I spent a week there and my experience wasn't pleasant. I stayed in the nicest room they offer and that was atop the 10 floor tower-Executive suite. This a no smoking floor which was obviously not enforced. Half of m trip I spent smelling cigarettes from the neighbors. When I voiced my concern to the front desk they tried to solve the situation, but to no avail. Upon checking out i stated my displeasure with my stay regarding the smell of smoke, the noise from surrounding rooms, and the false claim of Gulf view i was simply told "oh well." i talked with guest relations since i'm part of the holiday inn club rewards and they were able to get me a 50% off the first night stay refund, but I still feel as though the hotel could have refunded half of my stay since it was not as promised and I did not enjoy my stay. I have stayed in Shreveport and they refunded my entire stay afer I shared my grievance of train noise, wake up call, and a wet carpet. I plan on sharing this review with every review survey.

The rooms are just a holiay inn, but the beach is amazing. The staff is extremely friendly, service outstanding and food good. There is a great Tiki bar. it is a great place for a family or a couple. The only thing was you do have to rent Beach Chairs, two chairs and an umbrella was $20. That was an unexpected expense. Other than that...everything exceeded expectation.

We stayed at Sunspree 11/22/04 to 11/26/04. Everyone was great, friendly, clean rooms, Perky's Playhouse was really cool. My daughter and I spent a whole day in there playing together and with the employee. She had her hair braided, tye-dyed a t-shirt, made ice cream sundaes, had her fingernails painted, and played with all the toys. They will also give you toys to take back to your room if you wish, a VCR and even movies to borrow! If you need sand toys, don't buy them, borrow them from Perky's Playhouse! Our room was clean and accomodating.
