Would not go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/15/09
Location was nice but I expected service for the price. Our one bedroom suite was left unlocked by maid twice during our 10 day stay. Even though reported the first time, it occurred again 3 days later. Everything looked clean except for the baseboards...they were thick with dust. Bicycles were available for rent but not in very good condition. Bikes were difficult to pedal due to rusty chains. When we mentioned that we thought they needed some oil, we were told to take them to the maintenance garage.

Love Sanibel Island, Love Casa Ybel Resort
By Stanley, 9/7/08
Sanibel Island is like nowhere else we've ever been in Florida. We had a wonderful time at Casa Ybel Resort. Our kids made friends with other visiting children, we took long walks on the beach, enjoyed meals poolside and loved having all the conveniences in our condo, it had everything we could have needed plus daily maid service. The girls at the front desk were so kind and helped schedule our activities for the week. We toured the wildlife refuge in canoes with Tarpon Bay Explores and saw many beautiful birds and later took a Dolphin Cruise with them and were able to spot many dolphins in the bay. The kid's favorite activity was ice cream at Pinnochio's. We came down right before the kids started school so it was a bit warm. It was worth it dealing with because we were able to save by vacationing in Sanibel's off-season. We will certainly return for another visit.

Best on Sanibel By Far
By Jim, 3/13/08
It's our first time at the Casa Ybel after visiting Sanibel a few years back. Our kids enjoyed the activities, shelling and pools while we rested on the beach. The staff is helpful and friendly, our place was clean and well furnished, the restaurant food is a little pricey but good, the food shack and bar near the pool is convenient. Best of all was our view to the beach from the room. Sanibel is still a nice quiet getaway island. We hope to return next year.

Great place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/1/07
Recent renovations (due to a store a few years back) have improved the aesthetics of the condos. It's great to have your own kitchen and places to grill fresh seafood!

Beautiful location
By Peggy, 2/22/07
We loved the serenity, comfort and convenience of Casa Ybel. It is very conveniently located on Sanibel, near lots of shops and restaurants and not far off the main road. It was a short walk across a beautifully kept lawn to the beach which had amazing shelling opportunities when we were there. The resort is quiet, but with plenty to do. The pool was perfect and the kiddie pool made our stay with our 3 year old very relaxing for all of us. The food at both Thistle and poolside was excellent. My only complaint was that I would have expected a higher quality linen for the price and the service was a little lacking, again for the price. We would definitely go back.

Over Priced
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/22/06
We just returned from our week vacation at Casa Ybel. The resort is beautiful. We enjoyed relaxing at the the pool and found our room to be clean, but dated. If you plan on going make sure that you stay in one of the newer two bedroom units. With most of the units you will have to walk up one or two flights of steps; this is not a resort for a person with health problems. We have stayed at resorts for the same price with better amenities. We will not return.

Paradise
By TC, 4/26/06
What I loved about Casa Ybel Resort was that it was an upscale resort that was family friendly. It was nothing but older couples and families there. The atmosphere was friendly and cordial, service was quick and accurate. Our suite, which was on the third floor and was a 2 story suite overlooking the Gulf, was absolutely breath taking. We were only a couple hundred feet from the surf and it was so quiet and peaceful there. You could hear the music from the weddings at nite and the sound of the waves crashing... That was it. Now, a couple things I did not like: 1) we were on the thrid floor and had to climb up and down many times to load and unload our truck etc, etc. If you are in shape then it shouldnt be a problem for ya! 2)We had a 2 bedroom/2 bath suite. Both bedrooms AND bathrooms were upstairs and we had two kids under the age of four that made us very nervous to have them running up and down them... Especially since one of them is 11 months old. 3) the master bedroom did NOT have a deck to walk out on. Just a window. The deck was located in the living room downstairs. Also, the second bedrooms ONLY have TWO twin-sized beds, they do NOT come in full, queen,or king sized beds! Needless to say, at 5'8" my feet hung over as they were child-sized beds! But other than that, I have absolutely no complaints!! It was great and I will definitely return there! The food at the restaurant was DELICIOUS! Very yummy. The pool was humongous and there was an adorable kiddie pool off to the side as well as a small hot tub. The beaches were pristine and clean. Not very busy at all. The water was clean, clear and blue-green and the weather hot and breezy and quite sunny!! If you want to go on an amazing vacation, pick Casa Ybel for your destination resort!

Paradise Found
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/13/06
Casa Ybel is rich in history being built by the man who discovered the island in the 1800's. After going over the wooden bridge it was like we were in a whole new world free from the normal pressures of life, we were truley on vacation. They offer a Kids Club Program for a great price to help my two children have things to do on the trip. A bit pricey but worth it, the location is perfect which is hard to find. With a restraunt on location it was so convient for a formal evening while the kids watch a movie through the kids club. There is also a pool bar for casual dining. Casa Ybel has restored everything since the hurricanes and I am so impressed I would Highly recommend Casa Ybel Resort to all my friends and family!!

The BEST that we have ever been to.
By Leslie, 2/1/06
Very private setting, with a safe and secure feeling. We felt very comfortable letting our kids(12,14,17) walk down to the pool by themselves. The few children there are very well behaved. The ammenities are very nice the unit we stayed in (2 bedroom townhouse style) looked brand new and the view was fantastic. There was times when we went out on the beach and hardly seen a soul. The shelling is truely the best we have seen anywhere. We enjoyed watching the wildlife not only over at the Jay "Ding" Darling Wildlife Refuge a mere bike ride away, but the resort grounds had plenty of birds of all sizes. Some were cranes and egrets on the beach that will stay close to you unless you make sudden movements. There is so much that I do not have time to tell here. We are going back as soon as our time allows. East Tennessee Tourist

Our only choice onSanibel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/6/05
Just booked our fourth stay at Casa Ybel. Perfect location, beautiful property, laid back atmosphere leads to a very relaxing experience. There's plenty to do if you wish and plenty of privacy if you don't. Yeah it's expensive, but paradise always has it's price.
